Agree with the others about the curtains, so it's unanimous! Do not care for the lamps on the nightstands. They look like desk lamps and unless they have VERY heavy bases they look like they would be pulled off the tables if they were moved around very much. Do you have to have matching lamps? I know it is the usual thing, but it isn't really necessary. Love the wall color and looking forward to seeing the curtains in situ.

I would match the metals on the light fixture or cabinet pulls. Just because they are what you look at right when you are looking at the kitchen side of the room. You might get the panels ready, and then see how they look with the existing rods, and also with metal rods, and see which you prefer. That way you won't be second-guessing yourself. I would not be above taking down the rod in the LR, taking those curtains off, adding on the new panels for the slider, and taping it above the slider to see what I thought. (******warning...I do this when DH is not around, because this kind of thing drives him crazy. Ask a friend to come over for coffee and help you when DH will be out****) I am a big "tape it up and look" person.

There is a very small distance between the top of the window casing and the ceiling, but maybe a very thin rod can fit. You need to find hardware and measure very carefully, so that the wall brackets also fit in the space. You'll need a center bracket for support. And yes mount the rod about 6" wider than the window on both sides so you can stack the curtains back and take advantage of the beautiful view!

Shadylady, that is just the open closet door so there will be room for curtains on the wall! we have tossed around the idea of just having blinds though so that’s still a possibility. And finally Jinx, thank you!! Those pictures are really helpful. I may end up putting them on the trim since there are already the holes on ours- once a fresh coat of paint is on it might look nice to showcase the top of the trim above the curtains like in those pics.
