Aloe #1 = Gasteria, possibly Gasteria lingua. Aloe #2 = Aloe maculata (formerly A. saponaria) Aloe #3 = I vote Aloe ferox, too. Aloe #4 == not the best photo but probably A. striata or a hybrid (there are many intergrades between this species and A. maculata). Agave #1 == too young to tell Agave #2 = also too young to tell but possibly Agave parryi Cactus #1 == an Astrophytum? Native succulent = Portulaca, Purslane, a weed Yucca #1 == could be Yucca elephantipes. Joe

Tho' Crown of Thorns (Euphorbia milii) is a succulent, they like a lot of water, more than you think they would. I grow a number of these, I give them the best light I have (west windows), ample water (til it flows out the bottom, I do mine once a week) & fertilizer May thru Oct. (several of mine bloom a couple of times a year, once stays in bloom almost all year). It's characteristic of them to have most of their leaves up top, but yours should also have some along the stems. As you step up light & water, it should get leavier. The unknown plant is a Haworthia (can't say which), it's sort of closed up I'm guessing due to lack of water, water it more, it should green up a bit (rather than the gray/green it is now). The new plants are another Haworthia, a common one, fasciata or attentuata maybe, check some picture sites for IDs. Haworthias do not want strong light, they pefer medium light, I'd say yours are fine w/ that. I grow my Haworthias on the outer edges of my windowsills, they don't need the strongest light & some actually prefer it on the shadier side. The last plant is a cactus (I don't grow any so can't say which), that fake straw flower on top should be removed, it's glued on, not sure how to take it off. I didn't look at the Jades. The Tiger Aloe grows like that, there's nothing wrong w/ it, but yes, could use more light. I might even re-pot that a bit smaller. That Aloe that's spreading out from the center, needs something, if it were mine I'd cut them all off an inch below the leaves & pot them in DRY soil to re-root them. They're not going to recover from that, their lower stems aren't going to leaf out again, might as well re-root them. All your plants look far too dry, also the mix looks too hard. What are you using for dirt? I'd start over w/ fresh cactus & succulent mix, w/ abt 30-40% perlite added for fast drainage. This way when you water, they'll be able to drink & then it'll drain fast. I suspect your mix is so hard that they're not able to drink much no matter how much you water, tho' suspect you're watering too little. You might try reading around on the Web to learn the care for these plants individually. In my opinion, if you only have east windows, focus on Haworthias & Gasterias, I'd forget abt the Aloes altogether, you simply don't have enough light, it'll always be a struggle for them.

One year, when I was trying to get rid of this one that invades every pot, I was moving my plants inside for the fall and lo and behold, the cracks in my deck were full of little plantlets growing! I think I finally got rid of them all here at home, but found one growing in with a Euphorbia as I moved my plants outside at work a week ago. They're a cute plant and I grew them for years, but oh such a nuisance! I put one in the ground on the south side of my house years ago and it got to over 3' tall! For some reason, I was compelled to bring it inside, but I was glad I did because it bloomed... I tossed it after that because it got so etoliated and ugly, but I think that year was the beginning of the end for it in my collection because it shedded hundreds of the plantlets and became my nemisis!
