GE Oven Won't Stay Lit
Comments (6)If you haven't done so already, you might reset the breaker. Even a 15 year old GE range has a control board and it's possible it's just out of wack from an electrical jolt. Leave the breaker off for about 30 seconds. That's where I'd start - always try the easy and free stuff first. The oven igniter or the relay for the oven may need replacement. Get spouse to lift the oven floor, maybe also take off the drawer and take a look around. He should be able to watch the ignition sequence. It might help. When our 7 year old profile died, we did that - found a bad igniter with burnt wiring and rusted out areas around it down there. That's when the repair started to be pretty expensive. If yours isn't burnt, the igniter is pretty inexpensive and an easy surgery. It's just as likely that the control board is dying and you need a new one. I've never done that kind of surgery, at 15 years old, it's pretty much due though. I always laughed at a relative's jennaire. She spends about $500 every year to replace its board. Just so you know, this is pretty much the entirety of what I know. I got through most of life cooking on old ranges with pilot lights - crap, but I never had a range repaired until this year....See MoreScrap Wood Back of Face Frame Drawer
Comments (31)Sources cite the economy and mounting debts for the closure. Cardell Cabinetry had debts of $45 million and had been put in receivership late last month. According to Spector, the appointed receiver, "the company owed its unsecured creditors more than $15 million and its lenders in excess of $30 million, and it did not have sufficient liquidity to manufacture products to meet outstanding orders. You're not going to get anything from Cardell, so i'd respectfully suggest that you find another solution. Even if you had a panel of expert witnesses who agree with you, Cardell can neither produce new drawer boxes for you, nor do they have any money to pay your 'claim' (in addition to the fact, stated above, that you would be way down the totem pole in terms of creditor priority). Years ago, friends ordered a custom sofa. Between the time they paid the substantial deposit and the delivery, the company went bankrupt, with their deposit. They never saw a dime. Time to order a new sofa from someone else and chalk it up to "stuff happens" (annoying as hell when it does, but that doesn't stop it from happening)....See MoreDrawers can't clear wall ovens-help
Comments (32)Lee....Before you agree to anything, be sure someone looks at the appliance specs or appliance and find out how far the wall ovens stick out from the face of the oven cabinet. Wall ovens differ in how much sticks out. Just be sure they are not using a 'generic' measurement. If they've already done that, great. Once that has been established, then look at the options presented. I don't think you should settle for only reducing the drawer front by 3/4" if indeed that would be enough. The cabinet company sounds like they are trying to find the best solution to 'their' problem, not yours. You paid for a properly functioning drawer cabinet, I would ask for that drawer cabinet to be remade to be fully functional for all drawers that will clear the wall oven with a wider filler to accommodate. There's nothing wrong with drawers clearing by 1/4" just as long as they clear. There is one possible draw back by reducing the width of the entire cabinet. If the cabinet company only has standard width cabinets and not able to be customized, the only option available is the next standard width down which might be 3" narrower than present. As for increasing the depth of cabinet left of wall oven; they only thing I have a concern about if you do that is if your counter top has been made yet or not? If not then it wouldn't matter unless you are going with a post formed plastic laminate with integrated back splash. These are typically 25 1/2" deep and therefore your overhang would differ if you increased that cabinet depth. The only benefit you would get by doing that is not having as wide a filler to the adjoining 3 drawer cabinet. If you decided to do that, the cabinet company will probably just pull that cabinet off the wall to the wall oven face. If you wanted it a different depth, you would be on the hook for the cost....See MoreSharp microwave drawer won't stay closed
Comments (22)Yes, same here. Sharp was AMAZING and came out and fixed it. If you want to try yourself, you can just adjust the position of the switches on the sides after you pop off the panels. I almost figured it out, but watched the Sharp tech get it done in 4 minutes!...See Morescottie mom
