Need help with backsplash for Cambria Brittanica countertops

Hi everyone!! We just redid our kitchen with white cabinets, Cambria Brittanica countertops, and dark walnut stain on oak floors. I really need help finding a backsplash to go with my counters. I love the countertop but don’t want anything too busy since the counter top has big veins. I appreciate any advice that you guys have for me!!! Here is a picture of the kitchen

This is the point in the process where you pull out the inspiration images. There are a lot of DOs out there. Also a few DONTs - like the last image below. You’ll want to choose a neutral, white, light grey or deep grey, OR a neutral or cool saturated color - deep neutral navy for example. What I would recommend is that you find a look you like, then let us know your budget for tile in $/sf.

I don’t love the tile over the cooktop in this image, but the white subway tile is lovely.

The grey goes beautifully, but be aware, it abuts the perimeter counters which are obviously a different material.

Beautiful contrast with this tile in a deep grey.

Another white tile - classic.

Really the only mistake you can make is to choose a busy tile, like the absolutely wrong inset in this image.

I wouldn't use the same color in the kitchen and LR. I'd take advantage of needing to paint only two small areas of wall in the kitchen and paint them in a very bold, saturated color, completely contrasting with your white cabinets. If you're going with a beige in the family room, I'd go with either a chocolate brown or a deep burgundy in the kitchen.

Quartz is hardly more "chippy" than natural stone. If you're hearing chip complaints, look at the edge profile. 90% of the time, that's your problem. Pencil edges at sinks are cheap and customers are reluctant to pay to have a larger radius, hence the chips. As for heat, the MIA recommends trivet use on natural stone as do the manufacturers of quartz and solid surface rendering them all equal. The only heat proof tops are sintered (Neolith, Dekton). Solid surface doesn't stain, nor do the sintered surfaces.

I am obsessed with large format subway tiles (4x16). I'd try to match the white for the tile, and maybe pull one of the lighter gray colors from Brittanicca to be the grout color. Depending on your floor maybe you could pull one of the lighter colors as your paint color- this way you'll have some contrast without taking away from the Cambria! I'm attaching a photo of 4x16 with a contrasting grout!

Oh Lordie! I just saw this. So sorry!! But maybe this will help someone else. The tile is the perfect mix between gray and taupe. I actually don’t like gray but I love this. It’s just that kind of a color that will look how you need it to look with whatever you put it with. That last picture that looks yellow was because I had the under counter lighting turned to a warmer hue. My under counter lighting is tunable from warmer to the cooler lighting on the Kelvin scale. There is no yellow in it at all. And yes whitecaps is the lightest color that they make that tile in. I believe there were four colors and this was the lightest
