lopsided root flair

I had to excavate down to the root flair while planting Tsuga canadensis 'Summer Snow' and it is over an inch higher on one side than the other. There's also a bunch of higher roots on that side. It would be OK if I was planting on a real steep slope, but I'm not. I ended up planting it leaning away from the sun in hopes it will straighten itself out and mounded the dirt higher on the high side. Is this OK or what should I have done?
