Hey! I'm about to purchase some flooring, but have a hard time finding reviews for the Shaw Floor product I'm looking into. It's the Estate Hickory line, in the Ginger or Warm Sunset color. I'm trying to choose between these because they're GreenGuard Gold certified, the highest indoor air quality standard to date. I think the wear layer on these is about 1.8mm, so not the very best, but we're a younger couple doing a remodel and need 900 sq. ft. Needless to say, we want something durable but we can't break the bank for this project. Does anyone have this installed in their home, who would like to share your review and/or pictures? Thanks so much! So far we love it! All I have done so far is wiped it with a damp cloth. It doesn't show dust. It doesn't show footprints. We have not used it anywhere else yet, but we do plan on using it in our master bath when we redo that in the spring. I have nothing but positive comments to make. It's more of a medium tone- as far as I'm concerned. We had darker color samples and lighter ones also. We chose Brenwick because it most closely matched the rest of the woodwork in the house. We did put in white baseboard but the trim around the doors and the doors themselves are wood. Hope this helps!

Can't help you with experience but I've been racking my brain trying to decide between it and engineered wood floors. Designer and contractor are telling me to get the wood floors, but I really like the Titan HD plus (cost and durability). Looks so much like the real thing. So far the only drawback I see is the fact that after a while the patterns repeat. We have a pretty long hallway and am a little concerned about the repeats being noticeable. Was thinking about trying to get flooring from different lots so that there's more variation, but not sure that would help much since the grain patterns will still be the same (I think).

Sigh...in all installation instructions throughout the building industry, the humidity requirements are clearly stated. I'm very sorry to say that it is the homeowner's responsibility to ensure their home has all the requirements to keep a floor (or cupboards, or drywall, etc) happy and healthy. I know. You don't know what you don't know. I get that. A flooring company normally does not do the 'humidity consultation' with a customer. That is something that rarely happens. A SUPER HIGH END outfit (like the one's who would install wood flooring in multimillion dollar homes) would make enquiries...but the rest of the industry simply does the job and goes home. Not all...but most. If every company said, "Hey! Homeowner! What type of humidity you got in there? Wow! 77% huh? Sorry. Nothing doing. You gotta' pay to upgrade that HVAC unit of yours before I put my wood in there." those companies wouldn't make it through their first winter. I'm sorry this has happened to you. We are trying to get you to take action against the installers. The company that ordered the floor, delivered the floor and then installed the floor (without culling the defective product) is the one holding the one responsible for NOT ordering enough for your job. They are responsible for NOT acclimating your flooring. They are responsible for NOT culling the obvious split planks. They are responsible from the moment they ordered the wood to the moment they installed the defective planks. The manufacturer, Shaw, is responsible for manufacturing defective planks. They WOULD HAVE dealt with that if the planks had been CULLED and SENT BACK. But instead the installers decided to plow ahead. The installers have taken on the manufacturer's responsibility. You need to go after the company that ordered and installed the wood. It is up to THEM to go after Shaw for defective material.
