Counter top for resale~ Bill V. please~~
Comments (18)devorah~~ What is Richlite?....and how expensive is it? You said that you did it yourself...was it difficult? My DH can lay the tiles...so thought it would be less costly. Bill V. said to use the granite tiles...he has used it in a lot of upscale homes...but to leave 1/32" apart and put in some grout...didn't think it would make as much difference if it was completely level. I don't know what to do....but I know we don't want to put much $$$ into this dying house market that we have going on here....just trying to hold our money together. We don't "have" to sell....but want to relocate from here. Anxious to hear back....Thanks...See MoreCounter-top Advice for old outdated farm kitchen
Comments (4)You need to do some homework. Every material has it's pros and cons, and it all comes down to what you are willing to live with. "Best" is completely subjective. Frankly, if my DH had not felt so strongly about our using a "higher end" counter top (we ended up with engineered quartz) I would have done a laminate. They are durable, warm, soft, and very inexpensive. Completely low-maintenance if you are not careless about using them. Our quartz will be fine, and looks fantastic, but we spent nearly three times what we could have spent on a high-end laminate. IKEA has some DIY laminate for incredibly little cost if you are willing to put in the effort and will buy you plenty of time to do some research on your countertop options. Comments (12)Historic? Where did that come from? The tiny kitchen? It seems like it should be a little scary that so many people here think nothing of just moving a window, but it does happen. Window scar on the exterior? Plant a vine; fix it later when all the other dust has settled and you feel like painting that one outside wall of the house. The inside is a bigger deal later, not so much now while the room is still a mess. This is just a planning glitch that can be fixed without much pain at all. Those very same people who think nothing of moving a window have that "let's-just-fix-it" attitude because they, too, make these sorts of layout goofs. Some of us more than we'd like to admit. Maybe, as problems often are, this is an opportunity to do more. F'rinstance, the pic seems to show the window is in a corner. It could be made wider as well as higher. You DO have another year budgeted for this project, no? Ain't kitchens fun?...See MoreCountertop Colour advice please!
Comments (2)There are some wonderful laminates out now. So many patterns and textures to choose from. A great job can look REALLY sharp. As to colour, it's hard to say without a photo and a little more info on the style and look you prefer. Also what kinds of furnishings/finishings do you have in adjacent rooms?...See Moreb c
