Damage to Patio Peach & Ornamental Cherry
Comments (2)The Yoshino Cherry was planted two summers ago, it did nicely last summer, but did have some issues with an amber colored sap near the base of the trunk. However, in March, during our brief warm-up, it began to bud and leaf out; then got smacked with temps in the teens and ice. It has endured and come through pretty rough winters (near zero temps, snow, ice and wind); it sits out on the east end of our backyard w/little protection. Should I let it "rest" until next Spring, and then see? Now, the patio peach has tons of suckers doing well, but nothing alive at the top of the trunk; it just seems strange to me how they graft those; they can't possibly be that hardy, but they say they are. Thanks again, Stacey....See MoreRoofers smushed my garden
Comments (39)i think nessie meant that in this situation, with no real proof of value, it was better to fight another battle. for the sake of the OP, i hope they can resolve it. but unless she comes up with more proof, i doubt she gets asking price. the value of this is so small, relatively speaking, that i doubt he can even file it on his insurance. most company insurance policies have at least a 1000.00 deduct. so she may be able to get him to settle for less, but honestly i think she has blown that opportunity with him already. sounds like he thinks if he fights it he will either win in court or she will get tired of it and just drop it. if nothing else the OP can now recommend that anyone she know NOT use this guy for work. as to the post above about planting at a rental. when we used to rent it was in our contract that we HAD to leave the flower beds as they were. if we adding any plantings, they become part of the property and must be left when we vacated....See MoreRoofer Credentials - Storm Chasers?
Comments (6)Never, never, never, never, NEVER use out of town roofers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Locally, any company doing business in my city has to have a city license. That means company information is on record. I had a fellow come to my door asking if he could put a security company sign in my yard---they would even pay me $25 for the privilege. When I asked him for his company license, he made excuses. I refused his pitch---REALLY, I am NOT selling!!!!!!!---and called the police---who arrested him for doing business without a license. Go back to your insurance company and find out how badly the roof is damaged. Chances are repairing it can wait a bit. The local folks are using the situation to pad their prices. Waiting until the immediate crunch is over will mean much lower prices....See MoreMy roofer eat his word about the deductible. can I cancel contract
Comments (14)OMG how scary! I hope you get a new roof or your money back.... If it makes you feel any better, I had a guy knock on my door too, claimed I had hail damage. State Farm sent someone and they agreed. My roof only cost 9k, and State Farm covered 7k... I did end up using the guy who knocked on my door and everything turned out fine... But I didn't give him any money upfront....See Morelindahambleton
