Ideas for a Modern/Glam Window Treatment?
Comments (8)AK, the more I think about it, the more I know you're right. Panels would be great in there. But DD is a D1 athlete and comes home from college with a lot of gear, which goes under these windows in tubs for 2 months in the summer. I think the plan would be a cornice/valence for now that I can add panels to when this room converts to a guest room after graduation. Annie! Thank you! Got it! Back to the fabric store–Gotta Get Glam. I will look at the silks and luxe fabrics. I do remember seeing some metallic linens. Do you think that's glam enough? Any thoughts on the nail head trim, or is that off-track?...See MoreHelp me be glam in Dining Room light!!
Comments (26)Seconding NOT spray painting those chairs. I glanced at the pic with the white chairs before reading the post and my first thought was, "nice dining room setup, but what kind of monster would paint such nice chairs??" If you want more contemporar/white chairs, sell the wood ones and get different ones. They don't even look good in white anyway. However, if you want a glam dining room, I would recommend having elegant traditional elements in it, like wood furniture and a more ornate/not modern chandelier. The antique furniture + bold modern art is a sophisticated look I really love. I'm a traditionalist when it comes to decor and interior design, so maybe I'm biased, but I feel like a lot of the contemperary design moves in dining rooms de-formalize the space and make it feel more homey and less "glam". Not a bad thing for many people, but probably not what you want if you want glam. As for chandelier styles, I like the ones with more brass than crystal, personally, as well as shades around the bulbs. I think a good move would be to go to a lighting showroom and look at the options in person....See Morehow to create a modern glam look with a persian rug
Comments (9)With a complementary color scheme, this rug will actually amplify your glam modern aesthetic. Because of the high interest pattern in the rug, seating can be done in a muted, solid, complementary palette with those bold clean lines that qualify the modern look. Rich, supple textiles (lambskin, furs, etc) will accent and elevate the room. Accessories with traditional silhouettes re-imagined in modern finishes will help unite yours and your husband's tastes. Think chrome, lacquered, or even acrylics. Lastly, the jewelry of the room: a chandelier. Consider investing in a substantial chandelier or pendant lighting with crystal-like detailing. Chandeliers can read as simultaneously glam and traditional, a win win for you and the hubby!...See Moreneed to glam up the mirror
Comments (19)be nice if you could remove that plain mirror and do an antiqued mirror/glass (you can actually make something like this w/plain glass, or take the silver coating off the back of that current mirror) another option, peel and stick mirror tiles that go rightover that mirror Nice room, but it would look a bit warmer if you did a rug like this, and a potted plant w/a wood stand. right now everything is very gray/white and cold looking. a few elements w/texture and a bit of color would give it a bit more dimension place this in front of the mirror or on the table for your glass table top, try something like this the pink orchid above, or one like this, in a glass bowl w/moss would look very nice. you need something on that table, as well as the other elements. white orchid in a modern type of vase/holder. (the purple art on the wall is stunning!)...See MoreKimberly Gunter
