First Spring Catalogs
Comments (7)Favorites? FEDCO FEDCO FEDCO!!!!! Love that catalog, and I wait to order from everywhere else until it comes out! J.L. Hudson is another great catalog, with many things you will not find elsewhere. No pictures, not at all fancy, but full of fun seeds. Southern Exposure, Peaceful Valley, and Territorial are also wonderful....See MorePlumeria Newbie - Got my first one today
Comments (8)I have seen them at the San Antonio Home Depots and they are a good growing Rubra grown at a nursery somewhere near the Texas coast. For your best chance to see blooms next year I would start prepping by applying fertilizer at half the dose twice as often or using a time release like Osmacote. We can fertilize up to the end of Sept/early Oct in Texas. Then after that point no fertilizing until April. Agree with Dave. Leave it in the current container until the spring. Then go to a 3 gallon container (wide containers are better than tall). This post was edited by kms2 on Wed, Aug 13, 14 at 17:23...See MoreGot my first 2 minis today
Comments (9)Thanks for the pot idea, Seil. I don't have a lot of sunny pot space that is easy to water, and what I have I need for tomatoes in pots later this spring. Of course, they would be spectacular in pots. I got both bushes in the ground, nicely planted with some amendments. Now I'm thinking I should have reversed their placement. Oh well, it will be an experiment to see how they do, or will I go out tomorrow and switch them? I don't know.... Thanks for the replies....See MoreAnybody have Betta fish ?A question.
Comments (14)I've had many bettas over the years. They often become friendly, inquisitive pets. I keep my current guy in a 10-gallon heated, filtered tank with lots of live plants and 4 zebra danios and 3 catfish. Everyone gets along fine. Try keeping your pet near where you hang out (like next to where you watch TV at night, or eat breakfast in the morning)... they will stare at and interact with you for hours. I've been able to teach them to swim through my wedding ring (they love checking out shiny/sparkly objects) and eat dried bloodworms from my hand. They can be very slow and subtle as they prowl around the nooks and corners in the tank, but my current one seems to love to swim in the strong current from the filter - he'll swoosh back and forth many times in a row, purposely swimming with all his might into the current and being swept down to the bottom of the tank, and then back up again, back and forth, over and over again. It must be good exercise, because he's incredibly buff! Great little pets with few demands. Susan...See Morekathyg_in_mi
