single lever vs. two-handle faucet
Comments (5)I appreciate the response. We have a full clear view of the entire pipe work - full size basement unfinished, so it is not as bad as most people who have to deal with croll space. The lines all run through joists but none are insulated - the lines are just below the insulation. The main lines are 3/4 PEX that drop down to 1/2 PEX for each fixture. They are all on the same level/height. The kitchen is very close to heater - utility room is next to kitchen. The MB is in the furthest opposite end of the rancher. Just take MB in consideration -- it has three different fixtures - two sinks, one bath tub, and a separate shower stall. The tub gets hot water the fastest - almost in 20-30 seconds. I don't mind the wait for shower so much - it is to be expected with on-demand heater. The most irritating problem is that it does not hold temperature through a short shower. I wonder if the sensors in kitchen and shower fixture are worn out -- they get the most usage. All fixtures are original to the house - which was brand new built - 5 year old....See MoreSoap dispenser or no soap dispenser?
Comments (36)Can anyone recommend a dispenser with a LONG spout? The one we have now (Price Pfister) has an utterly useless 2" spout. I have found a 3 7/8" spout, also 3 1/2", but am wondering if there are any that are longer. The new sink is 10" deep. We weren't going to get a new soap dispenser, but after reading this thread, I thought, "I don't want ugly bottles on my new granite!" I could do a rack mounted on the sink cabinet door, but I think the dispenser is neater :-) It just needs a long spout so it can actually squirt dish soap into the pots, instead of dribbling down the side of the sink. Will definitely get a NeverMT--so glad that I heard of it here!...See MoreAnyone have two soap dispensors? Too much stuff?
Comments (7)Swap out the air gap for your second dispenser after inspection. On my big single sink I had one hole for faucet, one for instant hot, one air gap, one air switch, and one for soap. Some things you need, but I'm ready to skip the soap next time. I got a dish drainer that hangs in the sink...had to hang over the air gap and disposal. Same with my veggie washing basket. I didn't think all those things LOOKED bad, but they FUNCTIONED badly. Didn't appear that cluttered because my faucet was the size of a rocket....See Moreanyone have a two handle pull down faucet?
Comments (14)michoumonster, doing "the filter on the cold line side with a one handle faucet" = YEs, "it is all filtred water and not a mix of unfiltered and filtered". So, no, "even if you choose to do cold only, it always comes out a little mixed", no, not true. If anyone wants to do replicable experiment, to test it out all by themselves, here is what they can do: unscrew the faucet's hot water hose, under the counter. First you will have to stop the flow of hot water, and this can be done if you have a valve at the hot water tank or at the point where the faucet's hot water hose connects to the hot water pipe. Then, your faucet will run with cold only. Now, what happens? Here is what happens. Every time you move the single handle away from the cold-only position, the mixer valve opens the hot water side (a little or a lot), and your pressurized cold water comes flowing out of the hot water hose under the counter. Put a pail under it, and a towel to catch splashes. As you play with the handle, you will see how much water is let through the opening and goes into the pail. In the cold-only position, you get a full flow of cold water and NO leakage of cold water onto the hot side of the mixer valve. Thus, using logic, you deduce that there cannot be any flow when the hot water is attached and "trying" to get through. I repeat this in other words: pressurized hot water is not allowed to mix with pressurized cold water, when the handle is in cold-only position. If you happen to reverse the hoses under the sink, you will see the mixer valves also separates hot water fully from the cold water stream, when the handle is over to the other side. Hth...See MoreShannon_WI
