Help! Need to choose kitchen cabinets ASAP (like today)
Comments (17)Truly odd @javiwa, our response still shows for us, but may have been hidden by the site...mfgs. are asked to sit on the sidelines so the site is viewed as a helpful and safe place for homeowners to interact. We can appreciate and respect the goal of this not becoming a place where posts are used to sell, but hopefully we will be allowed to respond in a helpful way. The image below shows our original response, which we did not remove. The links we provided in the response will not work, so please send a message directly to customercare@showplacewood.com...See MoreHelp Asap Please with Flooring dilemma in kitchen/kitchen fam room
Comments (8)Thank you for your candor, I appreciate it. I had maple in the kitchen when I made the decision and I am disappointed that the floor didn't come up in discussions with the designer. I wanted a wood stain v paint and was wearing horseblinders to that bc it looked fine on the maple. But, they are here and pretty and I'm hoping for the best. The cabinet picture is in the original post and the floors can be any color I want. We are down to the subfloor in the kitchen. We will do rift/quarter sawn to calm them down and I do think they look ok. (Agree with you, though, not ideal.) The pic in the post right above yours is just in a showroom where I brought my cabinet sample. So do you rec we just do a 2 1/4 red oak like the rest of the house (and color as we want). Do you have experience with a medium brown and grey that gets most of the red tone out? I really would like it not to be too dark. But ok with something like jacobean with a grey?...See MoreNeed Kitchen Design Help ASAP!
Comments (20)Hi Stephanie: I believe Mountie is suggesting a white glazed porcelain subway tile like this image shown. You could carry the diamond chip up the backsplash. It seamless and easy to clean. I imagine the diamond chip is a bit more of an investment than a subway tile though. So if cost is a factor consider that. Best of luck!...See MoreKitchen layout help, decisions needed ASAP
Comments (18)What you need asap is not a kitchen designer but a lawyer. I'm less confident than LWO about my ability to predict the way that the construction and real estate worlds are going to go over the next few months. There are so many uncertainties and possible scenarios. Because of that, if you want to proceed with this, you need a lawyer to review your contract with the builder before you sign ANYTHING. Talk through with the lawyer the different scenarios. Maybe things will go as your plan. But. What if you can't sell your house? What if your mom can't sell her house? What if you both can, but real estate prices are way down? What if construction comes to a halt? What if your area is put under a stay-at-home order? If the builder is unwilling to build enough additional flexibility into the contract to provide you options and/or you can't afford to lose your deposit should your house not sell and you have to walk away, I would not go forward right now. I would also talk to a realtor in your area before going forward. What is the market like right now where you live? Are houses still closing (now, not two weeks ago, which was a whole different world)? What are they hearing from colleagues in other parts of the country? I can envision a scenario where it might still make sense to move forward, but you need to proceed with EXTREME caution, make plans that protect you in worst-case scenarios, and do even more due diligence than usual. (Just for comparison, two weeks ago at this time my daughter was in school, my husband was going in to work every day, we were planning for our spring break trip, and the housing market was just starting to get hot with houses coming on the market for spring. 13 days ago school was cancelled through March, then a few days later through April. We called off our travel. Work became mandatory work-from-home for anyone who can. Now our state is under a stay-at-home order, so there are no house showings. Even before the official order, buyers were not willing to schedule showings of occupied houses. Things change fast these days.)...See MoreJanet Mmm
