What to do WHAT do I do?
Comments (11)I think come June an July my whold front yard is going to be shade. I been watching the past few days no 1 area in the front yard gets more than an hour of sun a day. The yard is very small 20x 30 feet about the oaks are 25 yrs old so good sized trees. There not as many leaves on them now as there will be come summer so even tho the days are shorter now be more shade in summer or just as much. Not a lot of money to spend on yard an if hubby spends 100.00 on yard that a lot of money to him for a yard that he really does not care if there is grass or anything out there he could care less what it looks like. So what ever I do I have to know for a fact it will grow not just this yr but in years to come because he's not gonna want to fork over the money yearly. 1 big problem with the grass has been it's never been able to take root good before someone came along an scalped it with a mower. The yard needs a couple of years of grass only being cut 3 or 4 times a summer but the others in the community not about to let that happen because the yard will look unkept. Many of the yards has same problem in sun an shade no grass because it's never been allowed to grow an become good strong grass. Maybe I can lay cardboard then mulch a good bit of it set some ornaments out there not everyone likes yard art tho never going to please everyone tho........See MoreWhen do I pick my soybeans and what do I do with them?
Comments (2)Well I went out and pulled off the dark brown/black ones that have dried out. Cracking open the shell was a lot like cracking open some peanuts. Anyways, the beans that came out were perfect. I still have the original batch of soybeans from the asian market. My grown ones look almost exactly the same. The only difference is that mine are just not quite as fat. Also I'm growing some mung beans. Same deal there, I pulled off a dry pod and cracked it open. The beans look the same as the bag of mung beans I grew them from. I'm still amazed I got any beans at all from these plants. I mean I truly treated them like crap. They were not at the edge of my balcony but close to my door. So they only got direct sunlight for about 5 hours a day. The stuff at the edge get 8 or 9 hours. I grew them in crappy $4 for 40 pound "organic" potting soil. No fertilizers added or anything. I really haven't been very diligent with watering them either. These bean plants never had any good looking leaves. They've all been full of brown spots and frayed edges. I've built one of those earthbox type self watering containers and have a tomato plant and basil plant in it. They've grown so quick and look so healthy. I'm going to build some more and I want to try a soybean plant in there to see how it does when it's treated nice....See MoreOpening kitchen to dining room. What do I do about the floor?
Comments (8)Hi, just wanted to give you a bit more hope. I just did an addition up over my garage which connected to my upper hallway. The floor guy did a great job of matching my original hardwoods in both wood and finish, and the color was a custom color that he had to recreate. We put a header across the doorway to avoid having to interlace and avoid having to refinish the old wood. I personally like the look of a header in the doorway. As for price, as I recall hardwood is about the same cost as a decent carpet (relevant for my FR but not your kitchen or DR, obviously) but I don't remember the price per square foot. Anita...See MoreWhat do I do for ottomans/coffee table(s) in this living room?
Comments (5)Actually, it's your sofa on the left facing the chairs and possibly the love seat that need a table. The sofa facing the love seat has tables on each side therefore one in front isn't really necessary. You could take the table from your last layout, rotate it and place it closer to the sofa facing the chairs. Place a small table (very small) or garden stool to the right of the love seat for that person to place a drink on. Another option would be two storage ottomans that can be moved around depending on where someone is sitting. If the tops are firm enough a glass can be set on them when your feet aren't!! ;)...See Moredecoenthusiaste
