We also have one of those Rubbermaid storage containers but ours is at least chest high (top lifts up and 2 doors swing out). It holds the double cushions of 6 chairs, a chaise lounge, and 4 folding chairs (all match). We've used it for many years (7 or 8 maybe??) and it's held up well and protected the cushions, etc. in all kinds of weather (winter snows, spring/fall rains, summer thunderstorms, tail ends of hurricanes). It even stayed closed the couple of times we've had near-hurricane force winds and the container itself was pushed around the deck (railings kept it on the deck)...cushions, etc. stayed nice and dry inside the container! We have a smaller one on the front porch that holds the double cushions for 4 chairs that also has works fine. Interestingly, we have had a couple of wasp or hornet nests in the one on the porch, but never in the one on the deck.

For privacy on the neighbour side, think down instead of up! You can add hanging baskets with trailing flowering vines that will disrupt the view enough. Your neighbours might like the idea so much that they do the same, and you'll have double the screening! For the layout, I would put the grill over by the railing on the brick wall with a counter next to it between the door and grill. Are there small kids in your life? If not, an L shaped sectional with one leg on the view side and the other extending toward the door (leaving 3-4 ft behind it for access to the stairs) would be a nice way to enclose the fireplace while still allowing good views and some seperation from neighbours. Add a chair in the corner to the left of the fireplace. That will give the cook a place to sit and relax and visit between burger flips :)

Your deck and furniture to scale. I think fitting the lounge chair into the plan maybe the problem.

Hi Kristina! Your have a great deck for entertaining and relaxing. I like your design option because your walking from entering and exiting the deck is not obstructed and allows for conversation. However, if you were to keep the bar area I would put planter boxes on the other side of the fence to create a beautiful focal point but also creating some privacy from the neighbors when seated at the bar. Just a thought:)
