For you El Cheapos out there like me- the plastic adirondack chairs are comfy too, and light weight to move. Ours are in the grass so they need to be moved every week. We have the dark green ones and they are fairly fade resistant and sturdy. Easy to hose off the bird poop too. I bring out cushions some times if I feel like it. I don't find the slanted foot rests comfy, I prefer the flat topped foot rests ones. Just another option.

Funny you should be asking this question with those particular chairs. I've had a family hand-me-down dining table and chairs for 32 years. Who knows how long someone had them before me? I can't decide if they're maple or cherry, but I've always said maple. I call them Early American. They're not my style but the wood is solid and has taken a beating and still looks great. It's my dining table, kitchen desk, project worktable. I've been looking for a good replacement for years. I finally found a custom furniture place and think I'm going to have them make me a quarter-sawn oak table. I have no intention of matching the chairs. So now I'm on a quest to find something that goes with the table and is comfortable. I need back support all the way down. I want at least one with arms of some sort. All my chairs have them; they don't look very substantial, but it's just enough to rest my elbows and most of my forearms. That will be my seat. Although there is no padding, the smooth contours make them remarkably comfortable. I would love to get something with an upholstered seat or find cushions that don't look country. I also like that they don't stick up high above the table, which is 29" high btw. I don't want to pay $300 and up per chair. There are so many tempting choices on Overstock, etc., but I'm very wary about buying 4 chairs seat unsat, know what I mean?

We just moved to a new house and have bought many new items...one being a new dinette set. We wanted something with arms and rollers were a plus. Though we only found one, it was PERFECT! The chairs have the arms, rollers and padded seats and back. My kids made fun of them with the rollers that are a bit out of vogue but guess where they continually go sit (even when they could sit in the great room a few steps away and in full view). I know with the new dinette set, everyone sits at this dinette much more then at our old house even though it's basically the same layout of the area.

For quality leather desk seating check out Leathercraft or Mckinley Leather. Both of these companies manufacture in North Carolina and are considered high end. They both have plenty of colors of full grain leathers to choose from and a 5 prong base is standard on all their leather desk chairs. Seat cushion options include spring, down and firm. Most all of their chairs are available with a gas lift option for easy up and down and also a tension adjustment for when pushing back. Either of these companies should price below or well within your budget depending on where you shop. I have a pillow back full grain leather executive chair made by Mckinley leather that has a double pillow back and a spring loft seat cushion. I also keep a small leather stool or ottoman the same height as the seat cushion under my desk that I keep my feet on for most of the day. I usually am in my office from 7 until 7 each day so comfort and durability were huge concerns of mine and this chair is by far the most comfortable desk chair I have ever had.
