dwarf firecracker orchids--ever heard of this?
Comments (8)They are Epidendrums, part of the Laeliinae Sub-tribe and are closely related to Cattleyas. The dirt is probably peat moss. The old fashioned/common ones are growing in almost full sun down the backyard and from the base of the plant to the top of the flowering spike is 6 feet. The modern types are dwarfed and might start flowering at about 12 inches high. Quick to bloom and the flowers last for a long time. Recommended. There were some nice pictures over on the orchid gallery that might have slipped to page 2 or 3 by now....See MoreForest Valley hardwood flooring: ever heard of it?
Comments (14)This is a 10mm (possibly 9.5mm) thick solid hardwood. That is 0.38 inches thick. Yikes. That's pretty thin. You might get ONE sand and refinish out of it. This is in the same category as Lumber Liquidator stuff. I found the Armstrong look-a-like: 3/4" solid hard wood out of Hickory (not red oak like the other product). The edges are different and the finish are different. Probably two different manufacturers. For $1.79/sf you get what you pay for. That's a VERY low solid or engineered hardwood floor or a medium/high-end laminate (right thickness for laminate). Not much in that thickness is that cheap. Makes you wonder. Good luck....See MoreLapitec countertops - ever heard of this?
Comments (3)Did you end up trying Lapitec for your BBQ island? If so, how has it held up? We are also considering Lapitec for our countertops and concerned about chipping and cracking. This test by Consumer Reports (see video) produced edge-to-edge cracking in Dekton, another sintered stone product with a different formulation: https://www.consumerreports.org/cro/news/2015/06/dekton-countertop-cracks-in-consumer-reports-tests/index.htm...See MoreAlexInsley.com Anybody ever heard of them?
Comments (16)I just had to jump back in to let you know how my saga unfolded. Though I was notified my order would take several weeks to arrive, and I didn't expect to even receive it once I saw it was coming from China, it arrived within 2-3 weeks. The sweater was very much as described and I considered keeping it primarily to avoid the hassle of a return, but because I didn't love it, I chose to initiate a return. My inquiries were replied to promptly and I was given instructions to return the sweater and to forward the tracking number to them which I did. A few days later, the package was returned to me marked "Denied, return to sender". 'Though I was certain that was the end, out of curiosity as to what would happen, I sent an email asking why it was denied fully expecting not to receive a reply. However, within hours I received a note apologizing for the mix-up, told my Paypal account had been credited and to keep the sweater! Given the name of the person I corresponded with and the broken English, it was clearly a Chinese business. I'm absolutely stunned and pleased that this was resolved as it was....See MoreZalco/bring back Sophie!
