Short answer, yes, I would paint it. I assume you're going to do the wallpaper as an "accent wall" which I basically hate. But even if you're not taking the wallpaper throughout the whole room, you should paint the bulkhead to bring up the height of the wall and make it look like a feature instead of an inconvenience. sloder: I think papering the bulkhead would look great. However, I am hanging the paper myself and that is too difficult.

Lydia Deerhake: Re the accent wall. two other walls are basically floor to ceiling windows / patio doors. And the third is a wide entrance from an alley of closets. Thanks for your advice to paint the bulkhead. I was thinking that would be best.

Lydia Derhake: What do you think of DK Haas's suggestion to paint the side of the closet adjacent to the feature wall?

Carolyn, without seeing more of the room, I don't have a good answer for you. It looks like the closet juts out a small area and there is nothing to balance it on the other side of the bed. I would suggest centering the bed between the closet and wall of windows, but I don't know what the rest of the room layout is, so I don't know if that would work.

love that paper. if you paint the bulkhead the same color as the paper, I think it would blend better.

and your pic files aren't too large, they just take some time to load. houzz has been having issues again w/photos. sometimes I have to wait 30-60 seconds before they fully upload before hitting submit.

The paper is gorgeous! But, I think it may be too heavy/dramatic for your room, which looks like it has regular height ceilings. Because of the bulkhead and the small side wall, there is no easy place to stop the paper. The drama of the paper calls for a pretty dramatic room overall....not a PRO, though!

I would paint the bulk head the same color as the wallpaper.

You might consider wainscoting with wallpaper above.

Ilikefriday….Just back on Houzz. This rendering is very helpful. How did you do it? What app did you use?

@Carolyn I used Paint which is loaded free on most personal computers. You can also use Photoshop which is not free and is more powerful but has a huge learning curve.

Well sort of. It takes a bit more than that. You have to learn how the features work as I don't think that is the original intent of Paint, or maybe it is??? I have both Paint and Photoshop and find Paint easier to use for quick projects. Others who are better versed in Photoshop would likely disagree. I only use both programs for recreation.

You need to:

Upload the original photo

Erase the wall behind your bed.

Upload the photo of the wallpaper

Put the photo of your room that you erased the wall from on top of the wallpaper .
