some Fall decor on top of my china cabinet
Comments (12)Betty, I found the little candleholder at GW last Fall. And DD, the plate you like was at Marshalls then too. I don't do much collecting on the dog stuff anymore. I've been collecting it for over 30 yrs now. Just occasionally I see a piece I really 'need'. LOL. I have to work on controlling my rabbits tho, no room for me to get to get really carried away like with the whippets and my Trail of Painted Pony collections. I just like too much STUFF, and always have. Even as a child, I loved collections. Thanks for the nice compliments on my house. I know sometimes its quite a shock to see someone so obsessed with dogs. hugs, Karen...See MorePlease help me choose top of kitchen cabinet decor...
Comments (48)My preference is usually stuff on top .. but when shown the photo of the cabinets you don't really have a lot of space to fill. I do like the little punch of red with the sign. I say, put what you like up there, or not. I do not believe less is more, to me less is just boring. When living in California I was amazed at all the beige, bland, boring decor. Not a bit of personality in any of the homes I visited. Anyone could have lived in any of them and you never would have known who lived where. I love a home that is infused with the personality of the people who live there....See MoreHow do you decorate above kitchen cabinets?
Comments (11)I have a string of rope lights up there on a timer--looks warm and cozy in the evening. Also the largest of my collection of pitchers--I'll attach a photo. Yes, they get dusty but I don't actually use them, so every five years or so they get taken down and washed. I can't imagine scrubbing the top of the cabinets. I'm sure some of you think it looks "cluttered", but I like it and I'm not changing my cabinets. The picture was actually taken to illustrate the ceiling fan, but you get the idea on top of the cabinets. As you can see, I am not a minimalist!...See MoreHow often do you clean the top of your cabinets?
Comments (30)Love chispa’s comment! So true! Similar to the conversation I was having with my BIL last week. He’s a medical director in a large hospital, bemoaning why, as flu season approaches, people entering won’t use the blasted hand foamers. I said it was because you are asking them to remove THEIR germs to help others. It is OTHER people’s germs we perceive as dangerous. So I said he should put out tubs of germ wipes instead, with a big sign that says, “Protect yourself during flu season! Wipe all knobs, chairs, and surfaces you touch!” He says compliance is going through the roof. LOL. Re cleaning, just to unhijack here, I clean mine every 6 months. But there’s never much dust, because, I’m guessing, we run HEPA cleaners 24/7 for my allergies to everything in the universe. Gonna try the newspaper thing, though, for sure....See Moresuezbell
