marble shower: bad idea or worst idea ever?

Oh, I've fallen in love with these spa bathrooms with marble showers. I know there are porcelain look-alikes but when I went to the tile store they didn't seem as nice (maybe I haven't found the right porcelain). Is a marble bathroom a really horrible maintenance idea? It would be for my master bathroom, in my 1940 bungalow, so it feels like it could create a look that's both vintage/classic and spa-like. Plus it's so pretty:

FWIW, we remodeled the guest bath 11 years ago, and installed travertine floors and a marble counter (and hand molded tile in the bath tub surround). The marble's been holding up fine, except for a little mineral build-up around the sink faucet. Honestly, I have spent 0 effort maintaining this. Haven't sealed it since it went in. Admittedly, it's lightly used, only by guests. (though I'm using it now that I'm the middle of the big remodel). Thanks for your thoughts!
