Which direction should I run wood plank porcelain tiles?
Comments (0)I’m installing wood plank porcelain tiles 6x24. Which direction should I run the tiles? Should I run it vertical or horizontal as soon as I walk in from the main entry way? Right now I’m thinking of running it Vertical longways from front to back. I shot a video of the house, the floor is bare right now. https://youtu.be/oRStitu8zJ8 There’s a house, exactly the same model nearby that i saw online and they had their wood look tiles running horizontally. I’ll attach pictures. Main entry away Main living room formal dining area or living room 2 Guest bathroom Laundry area kitchen master bath...See MoreBathroom tiling - thick/thin vertical stripe
Comments (8)Thanks for the replies! Good point about keeping things in proportion with a 12" accent - looks like three tile wide mosaic might be the way to go. I like both options, but was a bit worried that three tile wide looks a bit chunky. But keeping things in proportion seems like a good idea. Edges will be trimmed with those aluminium edges. There will be a niche, but due to the constraints of our townhouse (back wall of tub is a shared wall with next door and the left wall is an exterior wall), the niche will be on the right wall (where the fixtures are) and will be two smaller vertically stacked niches (I kind of prefer the niche to be less visible anyway, as then people won't see all my bottles :p). So the back tub wall will be flat, without any disruptions to the vertical accent. The door to the bathroom is on the right side (when looking at the tub) at the far end, so when you enter, you sort of see more of the left side first than the right - so I thought I'd put the vertical stripe off-centre to the left. RE waterproofing - my contractor has used DenShield with mesh tape over seams/joints/edges/nails and then RedGuard on top of that...See MoreNeed help on floor tile layout - Horizontally or Vertically?
Comments (5)@Design Girl Should I stagger Option B or look cleaner not stagger Option B? I have a few more baths. Can you help check. My guest bath seems to be the wrong direction or since my shower wall tiles are horizontal, I should also go horizontal on the tiles. Please help with powder room. Option A or Option B. The direction is so confusing to me. Thank you....See MoreHorizontal or vertical tiles on backsplash? Grout color choice?
Comments (32)"Now you know why I am terrified to make a decision here. But I am not feeling the Quartz at all." There is a wealth of granite choices, Blue Dunes is not your only option... If you want something "safe" color-wise that you pretty much can't screw up, look at soapstone. Or, if you research soapstone and decide it's not a good stone choice for you, consider honed Virginia Mist (Jet Mist) or leathered Steel Grey granites. Or some other stone with a much lower degree of color variability. ETA: Honed Jet Mist: Leathered Steel Grey: (this person's kitchen is beautiful!!)...See Morelucky998877
