Help w/Verizon Wireless - $3193 phone bill
Comments (17)I see by the responses after my last posting that either I am a terrible communicator (which is very possible) or people in this forum don't take the time to look at what was actually said before posting pseudo-informed comments. 1. Found out during the phone conversation to VW that our original data plan no longer exists. At the time we purchased our contracts, our plan was the top of the line. It seems as if people are using their smartphones more and more like computers these days and the data usage has skyrocketed. No irresponsibility on our part as far as our contract is concerned. Data usage was never a problem until my husband started listening for a few weeks to the internet radio. 2. We have a text message from VW informing us of the potential overage. That is why my husband called VW to find out what the overage was. He was told it was a TEXTING issue. Specifically asked about data and was MISINFORMED by the employee. I don't see where he is at fault in this situation. 3. My husband started checking his data usage regularly after his initial call to VW about the potential overage text. It is neither in real time nor accurate. He has even been given a message saying that the service wasn't able and he needed to "check back later". "You people" are just inane here. I was reaching out for help during a stressful time and mostly found accusations about being stupid and irresponsible. I should have stopped right away but had stupid and irresponsible belief that someone out there would actually have something intelligent and useful to say to resolve a stressful situation. Please...don't waste your time responding to this message. After 10 years of enjoying gardenweb, I've had it. I won't be checking back. Oh... BTW...Verizon called yesterday and gave us a $3000 credit for the overage on the data usage. Call it luck or justice...I really don't care....See MoreTime Warner Cable billing issue....long...
Comments (5)I'm so very glad I haven't had to deal with TW or Bright House or whatever it is these days. I had a similar event years ago. After dealing with Miss CSR on 3 separate occasions I asked for and got a supervisor (who BTW, was as nasty as Miss CSR) Finally I asked if she really thought that getting the $5.98 for a movie supposedly ordered on my account was that important compared to the hundreds of dollars that would be lost when I and my family and friends canceled our accounts and go to satellite.. I paid my account in full including the movie charge that wasn't mine and canceled my account then and there. Most of the family and many friends did also and we exist happily with Sat. TV. We haven't had a problem with our Sat. Network yet. It is a matter of who will do better for your money and not cheat you or steal from you. Funny thing is I often get a mailer from TW or BH with a free hook up offer and free service for a month or 3 and a $50.00-$75.00 payment in cash for my Sat. Receiver. LOL Now why would I want to take that offer? Think about how it is made up of money stolen from other people just like me who paid a bill that wasn't really theirs. Comments (9)We have one ISP (Charter High Speed Cable) for all computers and a wireless router. We've never seen any kind of loss of quality because of it. We just got a guaranteed rate of $30 a month for the next 2 years by making the 2 year commitment - I'm sure other ISPs have similar offers. We used to pay $50/month for our landline (Qwest) and $60/month for one cellphone (Verizon) $1320/year We now pay $60/year for our "landline" and $200/year for 2 cellphones instead of 1 - not counting the initial purchase of the phones for $30 each. A significant savings! ------CUT YOUR LANDLINE PHONE COST----- NOTE: You cannot use Skype for 911 calls so you should have a cellphone for backup. Good idea in case of a power outage anyway. We have a Skype subscription for unlimited calls in the U.S and Canada as well as a Skype Online Number that anyone can call us on - costs us $60/year total - that's $5 a month. We have personalized voicemail, can forward calls, video calls, and a whole lot more. Skype Subscriptions Skype to Skype calls are always free, even without a subscription. Skype is a free download - no reason not to at least try it. You will need either a headset or microphone & speaker if you don't have it built in your PC. Skype Free Using Skype on your end to call an overseas landline is cheaper than anything you can find stateside. There are some blocked countries though. Skype Unlimited calls to overseas landlines for $9.95 a month There are also adapters you can buy that plug into your computer that allow you to use a regular corded or cordless phone(s) with Skype. I bought a Zoom adapter at WalMart for $40. This is the D-Link adapter There are others, just search for 'Skype Adapters' There are even WiFi phones that allow you to use Skype in any hotspot or with your own WiFi. Here are a couple: Netgear WiFi Skype phone Belkin WiFi Skype phone You can even buy a NO PC cordless phone. They're kind of pricey but still a heck of a lot cheaper than a years worth of landline service. GE PC Free Skype Cordless Phone Check out all of the Skype possibilities on Amazon: Lots of Skype Thingies and Doo Dads! -----CUT YOUR CELLPHONE COST----- We now use Tracfone exclusively at an enormous savings over our previous service with Verizon. We each have a full featured, Bluetooth capable Motorola W376g camera phone. There is a special online right now - Phone for $29.99 * Free accessory kit ($14.99 value) * Free Double Minutes for the life of the phone ($49.99 value)* Free shipping * And if you use this promotional code - 23444 - as of today, you can get $3 off your order. Get the Valentine's Day Tracfone Deal Here! There are always airtime deals. We're currently using the 400 minute/1 year service with 250 bonus minutes for $100 for each phone. With our lifetime Double Minutes, that's 1050 minutes for $100 - Promotional code 16142 - expires on Feb. 24 You can also buy the W376g at WalMart for $29.99 with Free Double Minutes but you won't get a free accessory kit. The phone comes with a wall charger, btw. Well.... That was a lot of links and a whole lot of typing. I hope it's useful to someone :-)...See MoreQuestion about pre-paid phones, trac phones, etc
Comments (8)Actually, every prepaid phone I've dealt with you have to start with a "new" number on the prepaid phone. You can then port a different number to it if you want. Tip: If using Tracfone, activate the phone online and you'll get a few extra minutes. They may still have the thing going where you can get a few minutes too for registering an email address against the phone. Look for bonus codes to add minutes or time when adding time. You can get a lot more minutes for your money. And a double minutes for life card is about $25 if your phone doesn't have that on it....See Moreravencajun Zone 8b TX
