Crepe Myrtle- You must not live in the south. They are everywhere here :)

if you search crape myrtle from the trees forum you get no fewer than 723 hits. CM is a favorite down in Dixie.

They come in lots of colors if you like it and would want more of them. They love to bloom is super hot weather. Mine just started this week when the temps got into the high 90's.

They love full sun, hot conditions and plentiful water. Make sure you specify that you want a tree, not a shrub, as some species are shrubs.

The tree in your picture has obviously been pruned heavily. Some people like to do this. I personally love them left to grow as high as they like. The high flowers look lovely, as do the mottled trunks.
