It also helps if you use a picture from your computer and not hosted on the web somewhere. You almost need to be able to program web pages to understand how to repost from another website.

Since you said rainy and hot, I'm thinking you're in the south. And if so, I'm hoping you post a picture showing the seed stalk and seed head of the plant/weed.

The second picture is of one of the stilt grasses, which are a PITA. They come up very easily and are an annual, so if you can pull them up before they go to seed, that will be the end of the story. I guess from the infestation you have that someone nearby did not pull the ones on their property up in time and so shared the awful stuff with everybody nearby. I know it's a real job, but if you at least go through that with a weedwhacker before the seeds, you may save yourself from more of it.

I forgot - it is quite invasive (clearly), and several states are pushing back against it; if the natural area that abuts your property is not privately owned, you may have some luck in contacting the owner (state , local, whatever) and telling them that they've got a problem.

Thank you so much for the info. It is not what I wanted to hear. It is just awful stuff, and it seems that this year's crazy weather has caused this epidemic. This the first year for this, It is a very large area to contend with, and we own much of the affected area :(.

The first pic is crabgrass. That is like the poster child picture of crabgrass. It will die by itself after the first frost.

If you want more help we need to know where you live and what kind of grass you would like to have.
