Marriotta
Comments (23)Bonnie: Yes, Marriotta will grow very well in a pot. I have friends that grow all thier miniatures in very large plastic pots. They starts them off in small pots and graduate them to larger as they mature. Seil, who posted the photographs of Marriotta, grows hers in pots too. What zone are you in? If you have harsh winters, they need protection during that time. Here is a link that might be useful: Growing Roses in pots...See MoreRainbow Niagara and Peach Swirl
Comments (15)Lily and Sultry, thank you for the kind words :) Lily, yes my garden gets more shade now so the roses slow down. The upside is the pictures turn out great when the sun isn't too bright, lol. I have learned background is also as important as the roses when taking rose pics. If you want to show roses in portrait style, you want a soft background. You want to have blur background and sharp foreground (roses in this case). When you do that, the roses in the foreground will pop really well. Remove anything in the background that makes the background pops like yellow leaves, bright color garden tools... If you want to have more fun, treat each of your rose pic like you want to tell a story through it. For example when you capture 2 rose blooms, if you position them nested against each other, they could look like a couple... Just have fun with your imagination, and you will have some good pics. Comments (137)Bayarea girl, I was just looking over the thread again and I'm scratching my head trying to figure out HOW you take care of so many roses?! lol. Wow. Great job, really! Sheila, I noticed your photo above, I always enjoy your rose photos with the house in the background with the tile roof and the grasses in front and the beautiful mature tree in the background. Very beautiful scene!...See MoreBathsheba, The Wedgwood Rose, Mariotta...
Comments (31)Helen, I was disappointed in my Bathsheba and wondered if something was wrong; the flowers were small , yellow , tea shaped - pretty but not at all like your photos. Now in the second year she's growing up and becoming more striking, with large blooms showing the pink and peach tones. Over the past month I am noticing scent too, that was a nice surprise. I see why you love your Bathsheba. Could you tell us what are your top 10 very favorite roses ?...See Morejoeywyomingzone4
