Paying Attention
Comments (4)Patti ~ Yesterday when I was working in my potting area, I stopped and sat in my Victorian wire bench for a break. I remembered this piece about paying attention and just relaxed in the moment. I could hear the kids over the fence in the next property playing and laughing, and they made my heart feel lighter. There was a nice breeze to cool my 'glowing' self. Plus there were neighborhood kittens snoozing among and in potted plants. Life was good. Edna ~ No, you haven't lost the sight! We probably do put on blinders at times for whatever reasons and that keeps us from really seeing. I've done that many times. It is so easy to lose sight, or walk around in a fog. This piece was a lovely reminder. ~ How sweet to be told a child wants to buy your lovely place when he grows up because of the flowers and fairies there. Aaaahhhhh! Annette ~ There is so much to appreciate that is totally FREE. The more hectic life becomes the more priceless these things become. They are gifts everyday. ************* Sometimes we get caught up in the doing and thinking about what to do next that we forget the joy of just being and paying attention to all the wonder that is surrounding us. Comments (17)Our Applesauce Pie was just a graham cracker crust, a quart of applesauce (we always sweetened and added cinnamon when making the sauce), and probably 2-3T. cornstarch. Mix the sauce and cornstarch together and pour into the crust. Bake until thickened (30-40 minutes I would guess). Serve warm with a little evaporated milk poured over it (LOL...yes, that's how we served it!!). You could add other spices (cloves, nutmeg, vanilla, etc.) to taste. You could add a finely chopped apple to give it some chunkiness. Raisins? Nuts? The options are endless. We never did any of that. Just simple, warm and satisfying, like a bowl of oatmeal or Mac 'n' Cheese! Deanna...See MoreMy fellow Americans: Pay Attention! (caution, short rant)
Comments (9)I hear you because I am paying attention. How frightening your recent experiences must have been! As I have already shared with some of you via phone, we were heading towards Mt Rushmore when our rental car (with only 6000 miles) broke down on I-90. The very condensed version--after 3 hours on the side of the road and many conversations with the car rental agency, who was 8 hours away, we were towed to the dealership. I called the rental agency and asked the person I had been dealing with--what do you want me to do with the keys? She said very sarcastically "why don't you just walk into the showroom and had them to someone?". I yelled at her "for the 3rd time, the dealership is closed and there is no one to give the keys to!" She yelled back that she wasn't going to help me if I didn't calm down. I told her that I was the one who was on the side of the road for 3 dangerous and hot hours plus one hour in a tow truck. I told her never mind, I will make the decision on what to do with the keys since she was more interested in scolding me than dealing with the security of the car. I threw the keys in the adjoining corn field. Thank you for letting me vent....See MoreShould I pay attention to appliance clock colors?
Comments (35)I purchased all Samsung kitchen appliances only to find my over the range microwave wouldn't fit, because it did not have a zero clearance door. I reordered a Frigidaire microwave. The microwave display is very bright white. Not only does the brightness of the display bother me, but the fact that it is a different color than the blue display on the Samsung range below it. So much so, that I'm looking in to the possibility of changing the light bulb or lense cover. I'm not sure if it's possible.. P.S I don't have the backsplash in yet, so don't judge me for my temporary fix to cover the ugly damaged backsplash....See Morejoyfulguy
