Sounds really high to me, especially the removal. What edge are you getting?

Check with a local fabricator. they may be able to connect you with someone who can demo/install. The disposal might account for some of the high price. Contact Habitat for Humanity Restore to see if they would pick up the countertops for resale in the store. We pulled out our own countertops last year, and Habitat picked up the countertops and dishwasher for resale. Saved a bunch of hassle and disposal costs.

The classic square edge is built on-site. The only way to know if the price quoted is reasonable is to get additional quotes. 4 years ago I paid $25/sf for Arborite. At the same time I got a quote of $15/sf for a Formica pattern. This was through an independent fabricator.

It’s a discontinued color that is now special order only. It’s a custom hand done edge, not machine post formed. That’s the highest dollar combo that exists in laminate, unless you’re also ordering a specialty finish other than standard matte.

You likely can do an import quartz that has a terrazzo type look for not much more money.

And it was only $1,700!

Now we paint the cabinets white, switch out the doors for flat slab white ones, and add an aqua backsplash.

FYI, making square edge laminate counter tops is easy DIY.

Menard's has great pricing on custom laminate counters. (The classic square edge is an upcharge but I don't know how much.)

Menard's stores are mostly located in the upper Midwest. Closest location to Atlanta is Marion, IL, too far to be practical for the OP.

So you found a local vendor that was lower than the big box store, exposing a 40%+ big box mark up. Not a shock.

Jeffrey, I only originally went to Lowe’s because Wilsonart’s website pointed me there. This is my first home and I know very little! I would have gone with a fabricator from the beginning if I knew how it all worked. I would much rather give my money to a local business! :)
