Please suggest cabinet & counter color; here's my kitchen pics
Comments (59)I'm open to streamlining some of my dishes, mugs, etc. However, my immediate concern is about the fridge, and how goofy it might look sticking out on the new wall. My current fridge is 32" deep. I paid $800 in 2006. I really want to get a much bigger one with the freezer on the bottom and the french doors on the top. I feel like I got my money's worth out of it, and will find a good home for it. I will have to masking-tape out the counter & fridge. I really want more freezer space (that's why I'm open to getting a new fridge). I even considered a small separate freezer but the smaller ones are not automatic-defrost, and I don't want to empty it twice a year, and deal with the water (not having a drain). As mentioned above, maybe a fridge that doesn't extend too much beyond the counter might be better, but I'm not sure how much more freezer space that will give me. I need to research how much capacity my current one is for reference. I looked through it's manual but don't see it referenced. I also need to use the ikea configurator and fully populate the space, and see how much room I want to allocate to trash in the corner. Thanks again for everyone's interest and great ideas! Comments (2)A good gray would look good and make the pink disappear by making the eye take in the gray. Look at the color below. I think it would work very well. Good luck Here is a link that might be useful: BM paint...See MoreMy Kitchen-to-be has stumped me (pic inside)
Comments (13)I also expected a cave verses the pretty kitchen you have. Yellow tones WILL NOT help that kitchen. You will end up having a kitchen in the throws of jaundice. ER and NICU docs will stop by just to help...really...not a good tone. Your counters are not black and brown LOL but they do lean towards a gray tone if I'm seeing it right on the computer screen (I mean a back tone, not the main tone) which again won't be helped with a yellow wall, even a soft one. I don't use BM paints, so I can't help you with colors in that family, but I would suggest you compare a Ralph Lauren tone to the BM deck and see if you can find it. It's called Writers Parchment and is a very soft tan. Use a semi-gloss finish for it's reflective value. You'll find this color will compliment the beautiful cabinets so much better than yellow. (And this from a girl who every shade of yellow to gold possible in her home). Honestly if it were my kitchen I'd go with a deep gold/burnt umber :P But I love rich tones and would want to really rich up those fab cabinets. Under cabinet lighting will really help and if you can get rid of that florescent thing and add directional lighting that would help as well. Stainless would help also as has been pointed out. But I don't think the black looks bad. Then again, I don't think the whole space looks dark :) so take that with a grain of salt LOL...See MoreSelling house - will my galley kitchen hurt me? Comments (57)maxibella, the short answer on standard numbers of open houses is: there aren't any set standards. the longer answer is: IF you have an aggressive Realtor, open houses should be something they look forward to. The down side is- due to both Buyer and Seller agents, the sitting OH Realtor loses much control of the Open House. Buyers waltz through stating "they" have a Realtor, and whomever is hosting the Open's hands are tied. The listing Agent must follow up with the Buyer's Agent and well, it's the follow up on not only OH's but showings that grades a Realtor. OH's are great for hungry start up Realtor's so,,,,have as many as you can. It says Nothing about being desperate; let no Realtor ever state that. OH's benefit Realtors....period. Why? because unfortunately Open's normally won't bring the sale, but they can offer potential Buyers to the sitting Realtor. which brings me to igloochic :) I was hoping you'd respond because you are normal. Isn't that great to hear!? On a broad sense it's true that we humans make lists of likes and dislikes and then we compromise. see,,, normal. so, when it comes to buying that largest purchase most of us will ever make,,,,at decision time all kinds of priorities change. you like me won't buy that Bi-Level, but we might just settle on baseboard heat. ha-ha you get my point. best to both of you....See Morebouncy5
