How would you decorate my formal area?
Comments (13)Beautiful furniture. Although the chaise is very pretty, it reads very bedroomy and kinda lonely(particularly in that bright red color that seems to be competing with your chocolate brown dining room). The chaise by its lonesome leaves no comfortable seating for a conversation, and there are no books in the room and no little lamp table to set a book and a drink on, so the chaise doesn't look like a cozy reading spot, either. Do you have a chair or something in the bedroom that you could swap with the chaise? Since you want to keep it formal, it seems like it would be best to have a loveseat or small sofa, and two smaller arm or slipper chairs, a coffee table and a little table to go in between the chairs. Use the hutch to center the seating arrangement (almost like a fireplace), but switch out the display items so that they are more reading room and less dining room -- add books, photos, non-crystal knick knacks or collectibles and take away the china. Then add a small glass corner cab in the dining room to display the pretty crystal and china....See Morehow to decorate this space? Open to all ideas.
Comments (10)Close the damper to help with the bug problem. Paint the entire thing white. Brass is on the way back now. Hang art 5" above the mantel. It should be no wider than the firebox opening below. Limit other decor to a trio of chunky candlesticks and/or an authentic antique mantel clock....See MoreHow would you place / interior decorate this space? Need help.
Comments (11)If wanting/needing seating to face a tv is not an issue, you might consider parallel rows of seating facing each other with the fireplace on one side and the windows on the other. If you like two seat sofas with seats that recline, that might be worth considering. A lot depends upon how plan to use the room. If you family includes piano players or others with musical talent, this kind of space with comfortable dining chairs that can double as den/audience seating might be where you want to set up for that kind of activity. If you don't already have your dining chairs picked out, then consider investing in chairs that could be used for comfortable casual seating in either the dining or family room space (perhaps even seating with wheels) and you'd not need as much permanent furniture in the foreground space since you could mingle the seating as needed....See MoreHow would you decorate this blank space above the toilet?
Comments (61)Gcubed ~ The light does shine whiter in person, so it may be the camera lighting that makes it appear yellowish. Mistakes were made and lessons learned for sure. The tile may be out of vogue, but I do love the colors and opalescence of it. In person, it goes really well with the cabinet color and sparks joy (to me). :) But then there is the major balance issue that can't be overlooked. As several of you pointed out, the mirror isn't working here and the area above the toilet needs *something*. Also possibly a different wall color to provide contrast and balance as well. Fortunately, these fixes can be done relatively inexpensively. Thanks again to all of you for your input!...See MoreRelated Professionals
