Your Most Remontant or Magnificent Rose ????
Comments (27)My garden is still new so it is hard to tell yet, but so far my most steady bloomers are: Julia Child who always has a lots of happy yellow flowers with a lovely fragrance, and beautiful, glossy, bright green foliage and a nice rounded shape. Lady of Shalott is very new for me but has put on an amazingly large amount of growth and buds in the last month, her flowers so far are stunning, the fragrance is soft but sweet, her foliage is very healthy, and I can already tell she will be a big winner in my garden. Then there is Rio Samba, who's neon bright colors may not be for everyone, but I do love the way the colors change with time. Rio is also definitely in the running for the heaviest bloomer in my garden & the blooms last longer on the bush than any other rose I have, by far... pretty impressive. I love the above roses for their reliability, but if I had to pick the most magnificent blooms, they would belong to Munstead Wood and to Lady Emma Hamilton. MW has such a beautiful deep, velvety color and texture with a strong musky/fruity fragrance that is amazing. And Lady Emma has such beautiful bright peachy-coral blooms that smell like fresh strawberries covered in honey - just divine... I think she might be my favorite of all. Good luck choosing from all these amazing suggestions! That would not be an easy task! Comments (4)That scent derives from 'R. multiflora', and can be found in those roses with a lot of it in their ancestry -- Hybrid Musks and Polyanthas especially. I have 'Marie Pavie' in the front yard, and can smell it from my front door. In the back, most of the "musk" scent lingering in the yard comes from 'Bubble Bath', a Hybrid Musk I have trained as a climber against the fence. When "Darlow's Enigma" gets going, I can smell that from far away as well. 'Clotilde Soupert' has the scent, but it doesn't travel as far. Interestingly, I find that the true musk rose -- 'R. moschata' -- is scented more noticeably of cloves, but there's still the "musk scent" underneath. You'll find a slight variation on this scent among the non-Tea Noisettes. I have 'R. moschata' and its offspring 'Reverend Seidel', the latter of which smells like a mix of 'R. moschata' and "Darlow's Enigma". This makes sense since it has both 'R. moschata' and 'R. multiflora' in its parentage. :-) ~Christopher...See MoreYour most fragrant roses today
Comments (37)A few more: Fragrant Cloud - more orange than the photo shows. I SO love this rose. The fragrance is strong, and a little odd - took some getting used to. But I love it now, and I'm nuts over this rose. Bella'roma: - this rose is hard to photograph, and she's not a fast repeat bloomer. But her fragrance is hands down, one of my favorites in my garden. Every bloom she gives me is a gift. Young Lycidas - Lisa, he does WONDERFULLY in dry heat! Neptune: A newer rose for me, and this bloom round is one of the most fragrant I've had from her. Lovely fragrance! More of Stainless Steel. I am in awe of the bloom form of this rose (and fragrance too!) Chrysler Imperial - one bloom at a time right now, but each blooms smells like heaven. Tiffany - I threatened her, and she gave me a super fragrant bloom Ok, so my Dusty isn't really fragrant (smells like old ranch dog). But she IS next to a bloom of Fragrant Cloud, and is my best garden companion....See MoreYour most favorite fragrant roses from Roses Unlimited?
Comments (103)I prefer receiving roses from RU in early spring since they come with buds. I have been ordering yearly from RU since 2011, and this week I received 6 biggest gallon own-roots with blooms on April 27, 2022: Below is Firefighter with 2 blooms, this is my 4th own-root Firefighter (doesn't last long in my zone 5a), but I keep ordering since one bloom can perfume the entire room. This is the first time I grow in a 7-gallon air-pots (thanks to Hoang Ton's setting an example with his amazing roses). Below is CLIMBING Crimson glory received from RU with 2 buds (I grew Crimson glory hybrid tea before, it was too small for my zone 5a). Firefighter's scent is many times stronger than Crimson glory (nice but scent doesn't last long in the vase): Summer Sun also has a bud to sniff, it's a fresh & nice scent like Louis Estes. Yolanda d' Aragon also has a bud coming from Roses Unlimited 4/27/22. My other 2 orders: Ardoise de Lyon and Kiss me Kate Climber don't have buds, but very tall with BIG roots. This year is the BEST in size and quality coming from Roses Unlimited. RU uses Mills Magic mix for fertilizer. The ingredients have changed for the better. Below is an excerpt from Mills Magic Rose website: "We’ve removed the fish meal. We’ve removed the biosolids. We’ve added feather meal and Citrus peels. We’ve kept the alfalfa meal, cottonseed meal, bone meal, and blood meal."...See MoreGardenHo_MI_Z5
