Comments (2)Thank you MSDG I don't know if I'm doing paneling work -- I need help designing the entire wall. The firebox cannot be moved because there is an egress window right next to it on the outside (basement). I'm not looking for the black/white look, I was showing the photo for the mantle style. What do you mean "Furred out portion around fire box?" Do you mean the marble before the wood post section? I can't decide if I should do a heart or not. I like it sometimes, but I need to figure out the entire wall to see what looks good together. I also like the look of a window seat, but I don't want it to look so casual like a kitchen bench. Do you think I should put a new window only on the right side of the fireplace? What are your thoughts on a bench seat underneath it? Thanks so much for your help!!...See MoreIdeas for a Recessed Wall Niche next to a Fireplace
Comments (13)I remember when builders did those wall niches in new homes. It was "all the rage" for a time when TVs were housed in wall units, or were enormous boxes themselves that practically needed their own ZIP code. Had one of those in a previous home myself, and it had doors that could be closed when we wanted to pretend like the TV didn't live there. Those niches have pretty much become obsolete as technology has evolved. If that were my space, I'd either drywall over it to make one long expanse of unbroken wall, or I'd have niche-wall - to - niche-wall bookshelves built inside of it....See MoreFireplace wall and big window/living room decorating tips
Comments (6)Ok, in my opinion, I would not put the tv on the the wall to the left due to the window reflecting onto it, unless you want to use blackout window coverings which you would have to keep them closed most of the time:/ Instead, I would replace and lower that mantle with an appropriate sized beam for an updated look and then you would also be able to to lower your tv a bit, then add some floating shelves on either side of the fireplace that would also tie into the beam mantle. I would need to see more pictures of the whole room to help with more ideas. Hope this was helpful even though I’m a couple years late on this post, 🤪...See MoreRelated Professionals
