Curb Appeal for Small Red Brick Home
Comments (20)The hedge at the right looks a bit messy. You might be able to sort through it and clean it up and find something within it that could grow into a small tree form in the vicinity of the house corner, while the rest of the hedge is trimmed clean and shapely. There might could be a similar form to be had at the left of the house, but we can't see that area. I second Babs concern about the Hosta. I wouldn't add any unless you can develop some shade somewhere. The rest of my suggestions are self explanatory (I think): a couple of shrubs, some annuals, a perennial and some groundcover. I'm not picking the specific plants ... just suggesting relative shapes, sizes and organization. A walk connecting the parking space seems like it would be nice, but it's not that far of a walk if someone uses the street either.Pic edited. I saw in another picture there is room for a small tree at left....See MoreHelp with curb appeal- making 1950's small house look more modern
Comments (20)I think this house (already is really cute, and) would look great in a stark white/black combo or even off-black/black combo. I love shrubs but this one is big enough that the scale looks odd to me. You CAN rejuvenation prune it and see what happens. Or remove it go with the some spiky grasses, cast iron plants, a blue-green hosta, or if your climate allows, even snake plants. I think all of those would look great. I don't see colorful flowers in front of this one. And just for good measure, that house is so cute!...See MoreHelp with Home’s Curb Appeal
Comments (13)The flat effect is because you filled in the inset with planting. Try building up (and out) planting on either side and leaving the void visible by only planting something very low there. Alternatively make the center project boldly into the yard, as with a pergola covered terrace. You have an opportunity to create more depth on the left end by adding a pergola or cover over the extension of concrete along the house. If it’s where you store garbage, add an attractive gate. I’m not opposed to a flat facade, by the way. It can be a modern look. But then it should be carried out with bold intention. In any case yes to more trees!...See MoreCurb appeal help with small porch on Ranch house
Comments (6)Not a Pro. What a great home! Love @Beverly ideas for your home. I would not paint the brick. Your home colors work. After you make those small changes, work on your landscaping. That will be where your colors should come in on this home....See MoreKate Potratz
