white cabinets? very dark brown? black? help!
Comments (8)I love white shaker style cabinets, in bathrooms or kitchens or anywhere really. Picturing your bathroom as you describe it, I would probably go with exactly your original thought. When I think of the sea, I think of pale crisp colors, the blue greens and the white of the caps on the waves and maybe a sand color. While white shaker isn't perfectly "modern" in style (like a slab door might be), I do think it is contemporary and can fit in nicely with modern materials. While it is just my opinion, a dark cabinet would really draw the eye and overwhelm the soft lovely sea colors. I would stick with white or maybe a pale wood color. As to the style of the door, I think either sleek modern slab or shaker could easily fit in with a modern material like chroma. While I probably wouldn't do an ornate traditional door, shaker style or slab are both sleek and contemporary. In my opinion, your original instincts were spot on. Good luck with your choices and I look forward to seeing the finished product....See MoreRemember me? I painted my countertops dark to help decide?
Comments (9)Love it! Looks great. I know what you mean about the black surface. I love how it looks but I once stayed in a condo with black counter tops and I knew I wouldn't be able to handle it. I did put them in my laundry room and LOVE them there since I don't spend as much time working over them. I had Corian before the granite and I loved how it felt so soft and smooth and was basically worry free. I do love my granite too, but that soft feel of the Corian is so nice. Enjoy your new kitchen! Good luck with the paint. It's so hard getting paint right on the first try and it seems to change throughout the day too. I never seem to get it on the first try and sometimes not on the second. Frustrating... But at least that is the least expensive fix : ) This post was edited by gr8day on Tue, Jul 29, 14 at 8:33...See MoreHelp me pick a dark blue paint, please
Comments (9)BM Hale Navy feels a bit too grey for me, but SW Naval is lovely. BM Newburyport Blue looks gorgeous in the link, but reads lighter and a bit greener that expected in BM's visualizer. I'm not opposed to a bit lighter than SW Naval. The room only gets morning light so perhaps that means a slightly lighter shade would be better. I guess only samples will tell....See MoreCoffee table color with dark brown sofa and dark brown floors
Comments (49)I’m following this post because I have the same issue with my living room — dark brown couch and very dark floors — brown overkill! Can I ask for more specific advice, if possible? Should my rug be mostly ivory, with tan accents? Or will the tan color bring in more “brown?” Should I paint the brown wooden top on my fireplace white to eliminate some of the brown in the room? BELOW: View from my entry foyer looking at living room. What can I place behind couch? The couch reclines, so it can’t be a sofa table. BELOW: 1. What color sideboard can I place under TV? 2. See room with yellow arrow. I have 3 swivel barrel chairs for that room (ivory color); must the rug in that room match the living room rug?...See MoreRelated Professionals
