Blog post about picking off white paint
Comments (13)I was in this position a few weeks ago & between posting here & reading just about every single solitary "which white/off white paint should I choose" thread here & over the internet it finally came down to this: I ordered/bought a few jars of paint samples, slapped them on our walls and a canvas board with samples of colors it would be adjacent to and looked them over in daylight, evening light, cloudy days, and incandescent light. I ultimately chose something that wasn't even mentioned here (Valspar Kabuki Clay and their bright white) so DH feels like I wasted hours of time online reading "stuff" that didn't help me. While I acknowledge I may have spent way too much researching "white", I don't completely agree with him that it was wasted time. Based on people's feedback, I did further research on the info given which helped me narrow my choices back to the, um , 3 off-whites I chose in the first place. Hmmm...well, what can I say - I guess I need to learn to trusts my gut feelings but I sure do love peeking into your color choices & homes....See MoreWhite Dove vs Cloud White vs Simply White
Comments (4)I painted my cabinets last summer, my house faces south, so I get lots of sun too. I got samples of White Dove and 3 others that I cannot recall (probably what you mentioned or close). I did not like White Dove on the swatch at all, but I kept an open mind. I painted all 4 on poster boards and looked at them for a few days and did a process of elimination. White Dove won! I LOVE the way my cabinets look.....white without being stark, but no undertones. I used Cabinet Coat paint from BM and they tinted it White Dove for me. Hope that helps.......See MoreHelp: white cabinet paint _ Simply White vs White Dove vs Cloud White
Comments (6)I would bring sample paint chips to where your slab is (paint chips or sample cabinet doors with your chosen paint on it). The lighting will most likely be different there than your home light, but it should give you a good idea of how the colors blend together. I would also try to get a sample of your slab and bring it home along with your sample paint chips/cabinet doors. I would not automatically paint your cabinets the color of your home doors and trim because unless you’ve matched up your slab to the color of your home trim, you could be making a huge mistake. It’s a lot easier to paint the trim in your kitchen to match up with your cabs and slab than to have to repaint your cabinets should you find that when the slab goes in there’s a terrible clash....See MoreHelp! Comments (44)jeffandalisa - Well, actually A'Lisa! ;) Too funny! Thank you for the compliment, although not sure if we've made the right decisions thus far. Our kitchen started as a "Hey, we need to get rid of these 6 x 6 beige tiles", to replacing/redoing almost everything. Hubby and I weren't crazy about the MOP, but all the gorgeous tiles we fell in love with were over $65.00 -$400.00 sq.ft. Told my husband wasn't going to spend that much on backsplash. MOP was a good cross over (holding us in), until I give in and replace them all with the stuff we initially wanted. Agree with "difficult stone to compliment..", but it's stunning regardless. You don't have stare at drywall, instead stare at every other stunning piece you have in your kitchen! Our cabinets are being prepped for painting as we speak. We'll see how the paint color choice will end up like. :) PLEASE share pix of your finished kitchen when backsplash is completed. DYING to see what you choose!...See Moreeld6161
