Sounds like you may be best off with a "90 line chinese" carpet. If you look carefully, you'll want to keep your eye out for the Aubusson design ones. They tended to use ivory, mauve, cranberry, mint, etc. They're very good designs, and still sought after today. Here is a link that might be useful: 90 Line Chinese Carpets

Your room is not too feminine. Just because you're married does not mean it must look like a man-cave! It certainly is not "boudoir-like" at all! You live in Hawaii! Embrace the light and color! You need end tables and lamps. You need greenery - some big plants near those sliders. Add some orchids if they will get enough light (or move them around and replace if they don't). And use a seagrass rug.

I don’t think curtains belong there unless the couch is pulled out from the wall. And even then I might just go with a simple roller shade. The style rug you have now is very nice. I’d get that style much larger with some blues in it.

Get some blue painters tape and tape the area you want the rug to cover then measure it. Or post it here for suggestions. Ideally it would be 2 feet wider than you sofa then measure how far past the coffee table you would want it
