Slightly OT: need help with dog bed for kitchen
Comments (30)Badgergirl, your granddog looks very similar to my baby, Bella, who lives with my STBX POC DH. I miss her terribly. She has black spots like a cow, though, but has the same smile as your sweetie. Pits (and Rots) are incredible dogs. (My Rot, Shelby, died a few years ago. I still miss her little dances.) They're so smart they'll do anything to please their owners. They're great natured, but because of their quick intelligence, easy to ruin. They learn what makes the owner happy, and if it's horrible, how are they to know? Their owner is happy and safe, and that's all that matters. I'm all for the death penalty for those who train these smart, loving dogs to be aggressive and dangerous. I'll get off my soapbox. They're fabulous. 'Nuff said. Fori, your baby looks like he got caught doing something! That's a funny place, a log! My Morgan sleeps on a cold tile floor. She can tear up a bed in less than 10 minutes. I started buying comforters at the thrift store, which she'll fight with, roll around with, and eventually sleep with a paw or sometimes her head on the blanket. They'll last about 6 months. My foster Pugs sleep on the comforters. They're just weird, sweet, funny little dogs who could do a bed, I'm sure, but they don't care as long as they're together. Thanks for the bed links, though. Morgan is 12-14 years old and I'd like to get her off the floor!...See MoreCarpet/ Area Rug Phobia?
Comments (17)Aaahhhh yes - I personally love to be barefoot in the house as well as my kids - DH not so much. I think I'd need to staple houseshooes to the kids feet LOL! While I was typing that post I get thinking about all of the threads about 'Do you make guests take their shoes off?'. I always enjoy those! Mags rule went something like this: Someone asked him about getting a solid carpet and he told them that they should buy th emost highly patterened carpet that they could find. They were shocked. But we have kids they said to which Magnaverde responded 'Exactly'. The pattern will hide every spill and be less of an eyesore'. Anyway - that wasn't it word for word but you get the gist. Yes I do think that bare floors look cold. I feel so bad everytime I see my kids piling throws on the floor to make a comfy spot. I must say though: Graywings - I love the idea of beanbags! My kids would love them and they could get comfy on the floor. So CindyandMocha - you think the Oreck is a good carpet cleaner? I have no problems investing in one because I know I'd use it and I'm getting ready to start searhing for the right vacuum! In this 100+yr old house I'm sure I'm cleaningdust from 100 yrs ago too. I told Dh that someday I want a MBR w/ wall to wall. DH carries shoe covers in his delivery truck for when the guys are picking up or delivering furniture. One of the guys suggested it....See MoreHouse with dogs -- In need of suggestions
Comments (22)I remember throwing oranges for our cocker spaniel when i was a kid in san diego through the kitchen, off a drop into the den. Ol' valentine would fly off that curb, catch the orange, and slide 10' into the den wall. Slippery floors can be great fun for dogs, but a little hairy for older ones. They are also cold so provide a pad to keep their joints from getting cold as this is painful for older dogs as well.We have carpet now but in a house we are building are going mostly laminate w/no carpet planned. Our dogs rule our lives and we wonder who we are building the house for. I was told the reason females do the funky scratch dance before laying down is that by instinct, whether they have had pups or not, it's a thing they do when carrying young to pad the area where they are laying to make it more comfortable for them as well as the pups inside. In the wild its to remove any hard substances such as rocks, etc. Hey mag77, finally saw that cream reunion concert on pbs. It was great to see them jammin' again!...See MoreArea rug to go with these drapes
Comments (11)the propylene stuff is durable, but it's also very cheap looking. try to see one in person before ordering. they're very thin. Some are better quality than others. if it's under $100 for a 5x8, then you know it's the cheap one! you could go w/a natural jute or sisal type of rug. will give you the texture that Beverly mentioned or try something faded like this one. it won't compete w/the drapes a distressed or over-dyed wool rug. they are pretty durable too. I have a few....See MoreRelated Professionals
