Help identifying weed/plant
Comments (6)As far as poisonous...native americans ate it in various ways. Most didn't die (we assume)...I've eaten the boiled leaves many times...and I'm still typing. That doesn't mean it's not poisonous...just that the preparation leeches most of the toxin out. Most plants contain some level of toxic compounds to discourage predation....See MoreHelp with Wildflower Identification

Comments (3)WONDERFUL! Thank you so much Linda! Can I ask -- I have a big 4' deep, 6' high "arch" with a 4"x4" grid right next to these, used for arbor-trellis. The vines are a problem, they've grown between the fence posts and the fence of my neighbor, and I need to try and gently get them out of there. Can I sort of gently just weave them over/ through the trellis-arch? I can devote that one to it, since these are in the ground right next to it. They were not meant to be trellis though and I'll have to give that whole arch over to them. They are one of the only plants I have in the actual ground (I use cinderblock 24-36" raised beds), so now I'm in a tizzy wondering how they are surviving our lousy soil and what I should put on them to help them. :-) I love January. I get totally garden-nuts, mostly because there is so little I can do besides clean up and winter sow. :-)...See MorePls help identify this shrub or tree
Comments (3)my guess is Salt Cedar , Tamarix ramosissima or relative. It is a beauty BUT it is a invasive in desert riparian areas. You might want to check Arizona's invasive list....See Morewantonamara Z8 CenTex
