What seating to put in the living room with my sofa? Please help!

A couple years ago, we got rid of our extremely old sofa and bought a Huntington House which we love. I want to get rid of our hideous sleeper sofa and replace it with perhaps a pair of chairs or a love seat or something that works with the Huntington House sofa. Apparently, Huntington House no longer sells the fabric we used for the sofa.

So: do I get a matching love seat in a different fabric, and if so, what might work, colorwise? I lean transitional in style. Husband likes traditional but will tolerate transitional.

Or, do we get a pair of chairs, or a chaise and chairs, or what? My husband likes to lie down on the crummy sleeper sofa which I think is why he's resisting getting rid of it. I'm afraid he won't go for a pair of chairs. What to do?

Here's the Huntington House sofa. It's quite large--I think about 108" across. We are definitely keeping that rug and the wall color in the living room. I don't care either way about the throw pillows. The couch is a neutral light beigey color with dark wood feet.

A better view of that baker's rack (from when we had it in the dining room). I'm keeping it for now, mainly as a place for houseplants, but I'm not averse to getting rid of it at some point.

The two table lamps in the living room are these, and I'd like to change out the end tables at some point as well as they are far too traditional for my current taste.

IMO the bakers rack doesn’t work in the space at all I would do 2 chairs in a fabric that works with the sofa and the rug . I am a bit confused since it appears there are 3 sofas in the space and what are the flowered pieces ? Maybe take some pics from further back that show the whole space. I don’t see any end tables and I do see a lot of clutter like for instance the fairy lights on the railings and all the stuff in the DR and on the bakers rack . It is really hard to get a feel for the space so please better pictures for sure.

For the rug, I would do two of the same rug in different sizes/shapes. Would stick with grey, teal and orange theme to warm it up. Something like This rug . You could also do a custom bench cushion to go over the cabinet for window seating here . It can be customized any way you want - fabric, color, pattern, style. Just make sure those cabinets can support the weight of full grown adult. For a table- would probably stick with rectangular. If you want something "different", round may work depending on the type. Would do a weathered grey wood table to keep in line with the rest of the colors like This If you were going to do a solid color rug, then I would probably use a tufted ottoman as a coffee table in a brick orange to add some texture and color. But I love the way grey and orange look together.

Agree with above and I'd get rid of the bookcase. It's too low for the space. Have tall bookcases built in to the ceiling and also a library ladder to reach the ones on top. I think you can use 2 sofas and perhaps 2 chairs as well, if they're the right ones. That sofa MUST be pulled away from that wall - looks totally wrong there and blocks the kitchen entrance.

Can you return it and get a smaller one? (I admit I think your fireplace wall is lovely and I personally wouldn't ruin it with a television. But I am a tiny minority who has lived without television for almost 30 years.) Is there another room in which to put it, or do you prefer to use this room for watching it?

Rugs.com, RugsUSA.com., esalerugs.com, and there are others. The tool is very easy to use. But even with the visualizer tool, when purchasing rugs online, still best to get smallest size first, to check for color, texture, etc. Do what works best for you. The drop down tv mounts can work well. Nothing wrong with your current setup, though - nor with your curtains, for that matter. But if you decide to keep current rug, just go with different curtains. All depends on what you want to do. Your space. 👍
