Anything You Wanna Talk About V - Prolly Mostly Off-Topic
Comments (150)Thank you, Laura... such wonderful sentiments! :-) Our weather has been crazy, too... but we half expected it. Last year, we were already laying out soaker hoses and starting to water...and this year, we've gotten so much rain that we're completely saturated! We're just now able to get in and cut grass, and talk about tall! It's hard on the mowers, I'm sure, but what can you do?! If it's grass, it has to be kept mowed at least semi-regularly... and if it's garden beds, they must be kept weeded or the grasses, thistles and other nasties take over! So, we're darned if we do and darned if we don't! Mother's Day was nice... calls from my kids, and the husband made a nice dinner... while I spent the day relaxing, for the most part. There are certain chores that must be done regardless of what day it is, like cleaning and feeding dogs and other animals, but that's no big deal... I have it down to a science! ;-) I finally got the old guy to help me get photos off my camera, so I thought I'd share a few this morning... Here's a mama and her twins... My very best mouser... I call her Vixen! The next generation of excellent mousers... one of Vixen's 3 little ones... Walking from the shade garden area toward the new rose arbor... A young Peony Tree in the dappled shade garden... notice the rambler rose runners everywhere on the ground! Closeup of the flower from the Peony Tree... Another Peony Tree in the front yard... north side... And this is a Trillium that opened white and is turning a pale pink shade. It's among a patch of purple flowered hybrid Trillium I planted several years ago... you can see the mottled leaves of the hybrid... I didn't plant the white one, though... And finally, the first of the Irises are starting! I hope you enjoyed a walk around the yards with me... stick around as all the roses begin blooming and other perennials begin to color the gardens a wonderful rainbow of scented color! Thanks, Al... I can finally view Youtube, but the monitor I'm using has no sound on board... for a girl with a technological genius as a husband, I'm always the last to get upgraded! Would you believe I'm still using Windows XP?! I desperately need an upgrade to Windows 7, which should be coming shortly... when he has time to upgrade me. :-) It's kind of like being the plumber with the leaky toilet handle that sticks, or the barber that doesn't have time to cut his own hair... when you're in the business, you're last in line! :-) It looks to be another gorgeous day... sunny and hot with strong humidity... I may spend some time weeding and edging today, instead of killing myself cutting grass! Hope everyone has a lovely day! And... Happy Gardening!...See MoreMy attemp of soft Brug cuttings
Comments (15)why wait till fall for cuttings... or chopping the plant up in the summer while it's trying it's best to make flowers for you... Solution : usually in the spring/summer as the plant starts growing.. it will put out a little bunch of leaves along the stalk.. these would grow into limbs for the bush it is trying to create.. just pinch this flourette off and stick it in some soil.. in a sheltered location.. it will root easily and you'll have a plant in short order.. pinching these off will also encourage straight tall growth of the limb.. an alternative to soft or brown cuttings.. but of the two. my favorite is rooting a thick hunk of lumber .. the easiest is rooting the flourette of leaves from the stalk...See MoreMy cat's bizarre dining ritual . . .
Comments (17)My youngest (spoiled thing!) will only eat wet food off of paper plates. She refuses to eat it off a dish. She will however eat it off the floor. Also those tiny cans of food- she eats Natural Balance- and she will only eat about three mouthfuls of it. However, if you hand feed her (I know I'm the one who SPOILED her) she will eat the entire can. This same cat has to have her water bowl literally chained to the wall. If you give her a bowl of water, she plays in it and loves to knock it over when she's finished drinking. She picks up the bowl in her mouth and dumps it and watches in delight as the water splashes everywhere. Another one of my cats will stick her paws in a bowl of water and lick the water off them. She also likes to dump bowls (we keep a bowl of water in one of our bathroom sinks for her) in the sink. She does this with her paws. She will tip it over and watch it run out slowly. Or she will nudge it with her nose and jump back. My male cat will only eat dry food out of his dish. And the dish has to be full. My oldest female will cry and bite your toes if you do not take her to her food when she demands it. She could have just eaten ten minutes ago but if she wants more we have to walk her downstairs (as though she's afraid of the dark) My male cat (not related to food) HATES clutter. If you leave something on a table or the couch that does not belong there he jumps up and "removes" it. He will take his paw and knock any offending object on the floor. Before I adopted him I was told he used to eat Doritoes. I don't know if he still would as I won't feed them to him. Any cat I have owned before these four, was crazy about turkey (after thanksgiving we'd give them leftovers) My four look at you like you are trying to poison them if you offer them turkey....See MoreBeautiful White Kitchen w/Matching House
Comments (15)You are all welcome. I love to visit model homes even though most are well out of my price range. In fact, one we went to last weekend was $2.7 million. It's like Deee's comment about the fashion show. It's just fun! Even in this economy, they are building like crazy in my city. Teddas, I will make another visit and bring a tape measure. Can you wait a week or two? So, I think the counters are concrete. I can ask the sales people if they know for sure. The last time I went there, nobody was around. Oruboris, your comment made me laugh. You are right of course, especially the worn mirrored coffee and side tables in the living room. I still love it though!...See Moremaddielee
