Help choose trim color for Spanish Style House
Comments (6)Sorry I thought I attached the pic of house. Here it is along with the Avalon DET552 color from the Dunn Edwards site. I know colors look different in the deck and on a computer screen but I'm noticing the color sample (color matched by Sherwin Williams) on the window looks very different and not what I expected. I thought it would look more green than blue and not as bright. Could it be that Sherwin Williams did not color match properly?...See MoreTransforming house into traditional spanish style
Comments (13)My question to you would be why you want to do this to that house. Is it justified in terms of the neighborhood home values? A gf of mine did this to her home, but it was worth, maybe $1.5M, on a nice large lot in a great school district, in a HCOLA area. The home recently appraised for over $3M. So, she got the value of the $1M remodel. BTW, her home is small, around 2,200sf. Depending on where you live, you are looking at a LOT of money. I would be asking experts (realtors) in your area what kind of investment in the exterior would add value to the home. You should know what homes are worth in your neighborhood, and how your home fits into that range of values....See MoreHow do I decorate our home Spanish Mediterranean style?
Comments (7)Yes, its possible to make your interior what you love...modern Mediterranean means what to you? Provide pics of a room or rooms you want to start with and create an ideabook with inspiration pics. Heres just a few pics... to me it means high contrast ie white walls with dark wood pieces like perhaps a dark wood coffee table with curved legs, wrought iron but simple lines, not ornate, simple lines in furniture, colorful pillows, large pieces of pottery, cyprus, olive trees, lemon trees...See MoreImprove exterior of a half Spanish style home
Comments (11)this isn't a spanish style home. you have some arches on the back addtion part. that's it. I mean, it's like walking around w/castanets on your fingers while wearing blue jeans and a tshirt, and calling yourself a flamenco dancer. no offense. If you want more spanish, get a spanish roof tile, get new windows for the front part, spanish style door, and a mediterranea landscape. see how they did this look? or this one. you'd have to stain that concrete driveway too But aside from that, I'd just go w/the vintage mid century look. Like this one: (is this home up in the north part of LA? montecito hgts? Lincoln park area? looks like it. ) First thing I'd do is paint. from the pic it looks like a greenish white. why do you want fencing on top of the wall? Have you checked w/the city first to see if it's allowed? if it is, ask about the spacing of the fencing. sometimes you need a gap in between the planks. If you must do fencing, then make it this style: I'd paint the cinder block wall a darker color and then do your vinyl wood look fencing on top of that. I'd paint the lower portion a dark charcoal, and do a warm, horizontal wood-look plank on top paint your stucco and trim a more modern color that works w/the wood tone I love the dark and white w/the wood...See MoreYardvaark
