jennel730 , very light or natural colors are trending for wood floors right now. White Oak with a very light whitewash would look nice. Use a high quality product that you can refinish in 10-15 years as taste and style change.

Is the existing real hard wood or some other product?

The existing is real hardwood throughout the house. We want the room to be different but not sure what we should use. The tile we have is ok but not great.

I would not put a faux wood product down since you have real hard wood in the house. Tile would be an option. Maybe travertine if it works with your locale. My first choice would be to continue the wood floor and have the exisiting wood refinished so that it all matches.

I would never choose a floor color based off of wall paint. Wall paint colors are temporary and much easier to change than flooring.

I think you can go with the same floor color that you have.

One of coordinating color for Revere Pewter is Mink.

So medium or dark wood color would work.

so you want to put another type of wood (or wood look laminate) next to the real, darker wood that borders it? That isn't going to look good. either use the same wood/stain, or, use another type of tile.

if you want to keep your existing wood, can it be sanded and stained a lighter tone? then you could just stain the new wood portion to match in w/the older flooring.

Or, redo all of the flooring to a different, light wood, like this French Oak

If you just want to do the one room, then choose a larger format tile (24x24, 30x30, or a 18x36 size)
