Comments (15)Rockdale, yes I am deep in the addiction, can you say OCD? As my late brother said about Coca-Cola, he isn't addicted to it, just loves it a lot and can't live without it. That was my excuse for begonia collecting. I continue adding to the collection although I have slowed down some as the winter space is running out and I am getting older every year. It is a labor to move them out and in every year. The ABS convention is in Sacramento in a few weeks - come join the madness. http://begonias.org/ Here is a big one that while plain green, the size and shape is worth it to me - 'Red Umbo' B. platanifolia is a big leaf, tall thick stem. The base of platanifolia shows it has caudex forming clumps. The stones are in there to discourage digging squirrels. one of the new begonias on the scene and propagated/grown by our youngest club member is B. cleopatrae some rex like begonias and a propagating tray using Jiffy pellets - I must pot these up to a proper pot one of these days. don't forget the hardy begonia - B. grandis a few begonias scattered about this willow oak. backing up a tad or zooming out No name but I couldn't pass it by years ago.
