Craftsman style house goes with my cottage style of gardening. One of the two blue spruce in the pictures, the one on the right, came down in a big rain and windstorm early this spring. So there is a lot more light in the front. That side is now in full sun. As to lots of land, I don't have it. I have a typical suburban size lot. What makes it all work here as far as everything I have planted is that the yard is all multilevel. Harder to deal with but more things can be squeeezed in. It would never all work if it was just level. The parking lot you can see across the street is to a 16 acre park and beach so its really very nice here in the summer. Its for our City residents but never crowded just afew people arounhd weekdays and not that much more on weekends. Next to it immediately adjoining so you can walk from one into the other is a large county nature preserve, this time all wooded. Also with shoreline accress. I remember going fishing there with my dad when I was a young child. Well, I went with him. He fished, I played around.

Remove the stone pathway and pour a continous concrete sidewalk. Or install a paver path. As you get to the front stoop, just angle it up to eliminate the step. Regrade the dirt to eliminate a drop off. If the concrete on the porch just has a settling crack why not just put tile on top to conceal it? A nice slip resistant quarry tile or whatever you like. edited to add: I'm looking into if its worth it to re-align my door. Im no expert but upon closer examination the door is def too close (tucked into) corner of porch and not centered with steps and the railing is too high. I don't want to lose the interior wall though between wall & windows :-( because I have no real foyer. Not sure where to begin... Please excuse the shrubs are a mess I know (will need to re-do in Spring). thanks

About the walkway? Loaded question with no background info provided! 😉 I’m trying to gauge stone size using that cute doggie for comparison but cannot guess breed so that’s no help. Can you step a natural walk on these stones or are you hopscotching or walking only on one line of them? I think that’s your answer. I do like the curve of them. Regardless of how wide they are - at least 3’ I hope - I think I’d want them wider at the top so they’re at least as wide as the space between the beds & where what looks like brick starts. I'd prefer the stones be offset from each other so one can walk with a natural step length no matter one's height. I'd also want them set into a gravel bed with a border holding them in place. That's the info you haven't provided - is this a test layout or you're wondering if it should be changed from an existing layout. I do love your house and especially that front porch!
