PAINT help! Frosty White Cabinets & BM Soft Chamois or pure white trim
Comments (6)BM Chamois is a warmer white with some yellow undertones, but the current trim color looks fine to be next to the cabinets so if it's close and you're fine with it I say stick with it. Really unless you use the same color as the cabinets it won't be an exact match. Can you paint a sample of the Chamois and hold it against the cabinets to see the contrast? IMO since you have the bright white cabinets and grey soapstone I'd play it safe and go for a cooler white. Comments (16)Would you do simply white walls with super white ceilings and trim? Won’t the contrast make the walls look yellow? I would in a heartbeat. It's a very pretty combination. There's enough difference in Chroma that one won't make the other look dirty/dingy. But, yes, Simply White is more colorful, has more Chroma than Super White and it is yellower. The contrast of hue between the two could result in Simply White looking like a very pale creamy off-white. Considering the floor, I'd go with a little more color on the walls. Comments (1)First I would do the ceiling the same color as the walls I like matte for walls and ceilings and then a satin for trim as for the cabinets they will need to be done by an actual cabinet refinisher with conversion varnish so you can go the same color but they will look a bit different every time you change the sheen the color catches the light differently so keep that in mind. 4 years agoLori is right White is a great choice. I also like Super White with Steam, but of course individual mileage may vary...lol

4 years agoThe painter put eggshell samples of several colors I considered up on the walls, about 1' squares, wall onto trim: White, Cloud White, Steam, Snowfall White, Dove White, Chantilly Lace. Steam looks great as a wall color, a bright, beige-ish white. The problem is the trim. The paneled center hall is 2 stories high (20') and includes the entire hallway of the upper level. The painter recommends painting this whole space, from crown molding on the 2nd floor down to baseboards on the first floor, with my trim paint. The salesperson at the paint store told me to be careful about going too bright (she specifically warned about Chantilly Lace). I'm attaching a picture of a similar space (not mine). I love the color in this picture, but I have no idea what it is.
