Playroom/Hangout Room Help
We live in a very tiny house, got 10.5 acres - and downgraded in house size to compensate for that cost :))) ... My 2 boys (7 & 3) have to share a room.. we just framed in and are finishing a room off in our full basement that will be a play/hangout/family room. It will be a place for my toddlers (also have a 1 year old) to play, but I really want my 7 year old to have an extra room when he has friends over they can sleep down there/hangout etc - as sharing a room with your 3yr old brother is not ideal :) The only things I know for sure, the TV is going on the wall where I have the small box drawn - we wired up high there so we can wall mount... and then I have not decided on what sofa we will get, but that will go on the wall across. Something loveseat sized, I am thinking.. though maybe that folds into a bed......and then will get either one GIANT beanbag or maybe 2 medium sized ones..
If anyone has recommendations to furniture/storage solutions for this room - we have lots of kids STUFF and toys, and need this room to function for toddlers, tweens, and even us adults when we want to come hang and watch a movie too! :) The rest of my house is kind of farmhouse vibe.

The contest did make it a bit difficult, as you could vote only once in a 24 hour period, and not before the 24 hours from your previous voting. Several times, I would have to go back and check as I did not remember the time I had voted the day before. Definitely following the consensus and going with blinds over curtains - I'm thinking something neutral since I don't yet know what color we will paint the walls (and also, since these windows are so small, I don't necessarily want to draw attention to the window area). decoenthusiaste: You are right, we don't actually need blackout. Comments (5)the furniture is very dark and heavy, I would keep thhe space very light. It's a basement, you don't want it to feel like a dungeon. I would stay away from cute, it won't be a playroom forever. ... an accent color for the Fireplace wall would be appropriate. What's your favorite color? Comments (5)How about some fun, colorful wallpaper and a coordinating Roman shade on the wall with the wood stove. Then some inexpensive canvas art from somewhere like TJ Maxx or Target on the other two walls? You could also have your kids create art for the space or frame and hang some of their past creations. 4 years agoI’d look at ikea for the storage solutions. They have a lot of modular pieces (look at trofast) at reasonable price points that would give you the open and closed storage you will need. Do you need an extra sleeping space? They make a daybed which pulls out to a king. You can do pillows along the back wall behind the day bed for a sofa-type lounge space.
We are trying to furnish a playroom also, it’s 10x12 so not huge. I think we will put in a love seat, an ikea kallax single row shelf below the tv with bins (we have a few kallax already), a bookshelf, and I’ll probably add another ikea unit that has doors for some closed storage.
not these colors for me, but if you want bright and happy, they offer a range of colors
