Need Ideas for Best Use of 15 Inch Base Cabinet Space
Comments (10)I am now looking at buying the Marvel 15 inch beverage/wine fridge which has dual zone temp control with range from 40-65F. The 3BARM "Luxury" model can store 4 bottles of wine and 60 12oz cans. It has 4 shelfs, some that are adjustable to accommodate taller items. I am limited to the 15 inch wide model because I am pulling out my old trash compactor which was never used and that's the only space I have. I am less concerned about actual wine storage and prefer having more storage for sodas and water. Marvel also has the 3SBARE 15 inch "Chateau" model which is more expensive and it can only hold 4 wine bottles and 36 cans. I think it has a larger compressor and that takes up more of the storage space. The Chateau has a few nicer esthetic features (glass shelves, glide out vs pullout etc.) but I think the electronics and basic configuration is the same between the two models. I can get the 3BARM for $1400 or the 3SBARE for $1650... I am thinking of going with the less expensive model to get the additional storage capacity. Thanks again for everyone's input! Really helped :) Here is a link that might be useful: Marvel 15 Inch Wine/Beverage Fridge...See MoreCan I put a 72 inch fridge in a 72 inch cabinet space
Comments (16)After looking at the photo again (it's so dark that I can't be sure), I fear that you have a MAJOR design flaw. The only refrigerator that is going to work in that corner is a single door one that hinges on the right. Functionally, that is going to be a real PIA. A French door/ side by side refrigerator is not going to work. You'll not be able to open the doors wide enough for the bins to pull out. The refrig & oven cabinets need to be swapped, with the ovens going next to the wall. And make sure that the door casing isn't a problem with the oven doors opening. (Don't think this will be a problem because of the cab face frame; also, it looks like open oven doors would extend out far enough for that to be a problem. )...See MoreCan I hack a trash pull-out from an Ikea 15 inch depth cabinet base
Comments (19)The left is mounted on the side panel and the right is mounted on a special piece that IKEA sold for this application. Don't know if they still sell it, but I'm sure it could be reproduced. The center piece is basically a 1 1/2" piece of MDF that extends the depth of the cab and is secured at the back and front to the bottom of the cab. It functions as a short cab wall and I have a drawer rail mounted on both sides. In your case you could position in where you need to achieve your right wall. I hope I'm explaining this clearly enough, but hope this pic helps. I can take more pix tomorrow if that will help you. Comments (4)Lavender, can you post your layout again? The hardest things to deal with in a reno are the things you're absolutely certain you want in your kitchen, that you really just can't get to work out. You find creative solutions that include splitting atoms, until one day, while researching the proper disposal of spent Uranium, it finally dawns on you that you can just change your mind about what you want. This may be one of those things. A 36" pullout base cabinet is a much more functionally important piece in a kitchen than a cart that rolls out of the way (that already has wheels on it, but you don't want to store out of the way) - really. Maybe you can re-fashion the drawer space above the pullout to house a retractable butcher block board. But as nice as your cart is, there's no way it can do for you what that base cab can do, and storing the base cab in the laundry, well, if you think that will work, then maybe it will. Whatever you want, I hope it works out. Just remember, you cannot change the laws of physics, but you can always change your mind....See Moreartistsharonva
