Yep, after being super confused for a bit I finally figured it out too. This is NOT an improvement.

Well, I think it might be? I typically read the OP's original post only once, then read the comments and maybe decide to post myself and afterwards I typically just read the newest comments, so it won't be necessary to scroll all the way down, over and over and over.

It's odd that the "write your comment field is still at the bottom though. When first saved, comments stay at the bottom, unless one refreshes the page. That IS odd.

It seems to me, with this change, the comment field ought to be always on top.

Thank you for explaining what the heck was happening. I went away for a bit, and then it seemed as if the comments were jumbled. It didn't occur to me that the order was completely reversed.

And yet this thread for me is in the usual order, with the most recent posts at the bottom.

I hope this is just a temporary glitch. Argh.

I don't think this is an "improvement", I think its a bug in their software - one of several right now.

ETA: Regarding the sorting -- it's VERY confusing if you're trying to follow the flow of a thread!

ETA2: No, I didn't "report" it since it's a waste of time as the Support people have NEVER responded to me when I've reported an issue. (The only time they've responded was during the SW controversy and that was with a stock/boiler plate reply.)

The same thing has been happening on my iPad. Ditto for bumping, or adding a new comment. The refreshed thread does not show up, unless I tap the site link several times. I’m still using the old Garden Web link, btw.

**I see my reply landed at the top of the thread, just above Buehl’s. So, the order is reversed for me, too...with new replies at the top.

The order change is good for the 6k-comment “stacked cabinets” thread, but not much else.

I am so confused. I added to bpath's post on the other about this not being chronologically displayed anymore and how disorienting it is. I wish there were a way to sort it to your preference. It makes no sense to have to scroll to the bottom and then read upwards.

The thread isn't in the old order for me any more.

Buehl, I can't find the thread. I get a 404, "Post not found".

There does seem to be a connection between using the Gardenweb URL and the Houzz URL. GW is old order with oldest first, H is new order with newest first. My problem is that I always start with GW but sometimes (often) end up getting "converted" to H.

Totally confusing! I don't think this change was on purpose. It is some kind of glitch.

Buehl, I think that if a thread or post gets flagged, it will stay visible to the person wo started the thread or posted the comment. But not to anybody else. I'm not 100% sure though.

Following the link posted, leads me to a "page not found".

Why would it be "flagged"?

Who knows? And I don't dare to speculate. The powers that be might not take kindly to that.

Buehl, try to log out. Go back on the forum, follow the link while signed out. You'll find out quickly if you still can see the thread.
