Using a wall-mounted shelving system on a plaster wall without studs

Tell me if I'm crazy here... hoping to install a wall-mounted shelving system (Algot from IKEA) in my 1920's lath and plaster closet. There are no studs behind the wall but might be something to grab onto toward the corners. Lath and plaster is 1/2 inch thick. I'm thinking I'll use the suspension rail along the top which might distribute some of the weight and some heavy duty snaptoggles from Toggler (which I read about here). Can these walls take the weight? Or am I gonna rip my walls out??
