shihtzu-4su, I understand your hubby’s concern. But Pip Squeek is so tiny (but demanding), he would not notice it (I am not suggesting a secrete trade though). Once it grows to be with half a dozen of leaves (1/4’ to 1/2” long) from a cutting, it behaves as a mature plant (1” high) starting to bloom. Talk to him, he would love it as well. If you are still interested, I will send a pair of cuttings to you for postage. By the coming fall, my Chantaspring will be ready for cutting. Let me know if you are interested. I do grow some plants of Lil Ballerina (mini). As having strict limitation to my growing space (my plants are now growing in 4” x 4” x 4” compartments), I can only grow microminis. Lil Ballerina is perhaps the largest plant in my collection. I am now looking for something such as: Tsunami, Midget series, Senk’s Fruit Fly, Vallarta Campanas Moradas, Flashy Trail, Lilla Blaklockan. I understand some of them are on eBay, but I have not had a luck, instead with growing interests in trade so that I could talk with other growers on those little guys. Anyway, those tiny guys generally require more of our attention. But once you grow them, you will see how attached you grow to them. Let me know.

Hello there Philip, nice to 'see' you here! Must admit I have never thought of any of the banana family as being hardy enough to try here, I had always associated them with far more tropical conditions. I did have two large pots full of a very rampant bamboo, hence the tubs, till last summer when they unfortunately dried out far too much/for too long and I lost them both completely. Despite my efforts to revive them they had given up. My mum still has hers so I think I may well be asking for a division come spring. I am going to get some Cannas also as they are lush and tropical to put with my Elephant Ears which had leaves like dustbin lids this summer. Our 1/2 acre garden is so open and exposed it is difficult to know what to do with it at times as most of it is lawned. Loads of gardening progs on TV give all sorts of ideas/projects but mainly for smaller enclosed town gardens, our is the complete opposite, the area taken up by the driveway and patio are bigger than most folks gardens!...but I love it here and wouldn't change it for the world. I'm so sorry. Flooded basements are such a shock. I'm a brand new member, this is my first post. In Lower Alabama we were inundated with heavier than usual rain and our new (to us) renovation building flooded last week. Bunch of tools got wet but no family keepsakes. It was city street run off water and came up our 3 floor drain holes. We now have rubber plugs in each of those holes but won't know how secure they are till another heave rain. Hope your basement will dry out ok. We have 6 inch ceramic tile basement flooring which could be over a hundred years old. At least the old cracked grout allowed it to drain.

I'm not sure I follow you, has the plant been rooted yet? Also I'm not exactly sure what type of plant that is through the image alone. What I do is move its pot to an area I can point a hose straight down at (or close to that angle and then just turn the thing on full blast. This works for my Sedums and Sempervivums. I am not sure what your plant is though, I am so sorry for not making that clear before, some plants can get really damaged by blasting water like that. From what you said, it sounds like your plant isn't infested. The best course of action if there isn't a lot of them is to just find and squish.
