Thanks mayflowers. I am sure people are tired of looking at my kitchen at this point, but this is such a hard decision, because it is so permanent! The two ideas I am now considering are: (1) your idea of cream tile matching the wall color (though I cannot really find one that truly comes close to the wall color) and (2) still considering a sage green tile, but I feel like that may take away from my green shelves. I am considering square, rectangular sizes/ different layouts of tiles at this point at this point. as for area, I am just considering doing the area under the wall from the cabinet to the left of the stove to under the microwave. May or may not run it up in the corner to the first green shelf. I am also going to leave the area in the third picture without a backsplash (the pic with the glass cabinets).

Hi, It's the second time I have used Ocean Jaspar and I still love it. Last time we used white subway tile with an occasional glass seahorse tile and it was really pretty. This time I wanted to get away from the "safe" white subways- I'm tired of seeing them in everyone's kitchens ... So we chose this flower pattern with grey and white marble. The "flowers" have tiny orange centers that contrast well with the green color of the kitchen. Not installed yet as you can see.

I agree that the floor and the rest of the room don't play nicely together. In a perfect world, your countertops and your floor would -- not match, but would coordinate or play nicely together. Since that isn't happening, I'd say try to bring in a backsplash to tie into the floor /repeat a bit of that coloring. A white backsplash would be the worst thing you could do -- with everything white "up top", it would emphasize all the more strongly that the floor is different. I'd also add color in curtains, linens, etc. I'd go with a bold-ish floral with some strong red; that'd suit my personality, and I think it'd tie into the cabinets well.

I would think about a whisper-soft light green, maybe in a glass tile. I think that would look wonderful with your wood tones (both of them) and act as a bridge with the wood, the counter, and the flooring -- would tie it all together and bring in a gentle element of color.
