I am soooo happy!
Comments (1)I Have always liked buying locally even though prices may be a little higher. If you have a problem you know exactly where to go and what to do. Local businesses are more likely to provide the assistance that you need because they really depend on your business and want you back for what ever else you need that they can help with. I'm sure your pet store manager is not looking for compensation for his suggestions and help, just wants you to come back when you need other material. Lots of people don't realize that big ticket items usually don't have much mark-up (profit) but small items make the most money for the retailer. Example: a pond pump probably does not make a lot of profit for him but if you continue to visit the store to buy things like fish food, meds and misc. small pond items he will make more profit per dollar spent on those items. I once had a guy offer to five me a free aquarium if I would commit to buy all the rest of my fish keeping needs from him for a year. Anyway, glad you are happy....See MoreI Am So Bummed! Aster Yellows Again?
Comments (13)Thanks again bludane, I will call the local extension first thing in the morning and see if they test or send out for testing. I did some more looking on the internet and I think I may have seen one mite on a leaf of the coneflower. I saw a shape very similar to the mite on one of the leaves found on this site. When I saw it under the microscope I looked at it for a long time and dismissed it. http://www.mobot.org/GARDENINGHELP/PLANTFINDER/IPM.asp?code=277&group=48&level=s or more specifically http://www.mobot.org/gardeninghelp/images/Pests/Pest1245.jpg I had mine crushed between two pieces of glass, but it was the same shape and color! You know... different sites are suggesting different methods of treatment. Some sites state that once damage is noticed it too late and that is very hard to treat. They suggest to dig out the plant, but they also suggest to dig out plants within one foot of the infected plant as they say those too might be infected. Then there are sites that say to just remove the affected part and do nothing. Humm.... They do say that the Eriophyid mites are the only mites to transmit viruses....See MoreI am soooo mad at Annie
Comments (27)I would be mad at Annie, too. As Ricky would say, she's got "some 'splainin' too doo!" I grew up in Alabama then moved to Georgia. Tornados were a fact of life. Then two summer ago, right after we bought our house way up here, somebody called about a tornado warning in my area right here in New Hampshire. I laughed at the poor soul. HA! Tornados in NH? Yea, right. Dumb Yankee. Sure enough, huge winds (mine were straight line) came through and a tornado passed probably 100 yard from the house, no joke. The street around the corner was in bad shape. Closest I ever came to a tornado, and I had to leave AL and GA to find it in NH. No power for 2.5 days. We made national news! Many thanks being lifted up for your safety. Lawns and flowers can be replaced. Many are not so blessed....See MoreI am a horrible sister and feel soooo bad could you...
